  1. Hi Obelix Thanks - I didn't know anything about the FCA - I feel as tho I have been struggling on my own for so long with this. Will follow your link today and see how I go about things. My source from YB has already said that he is prepared to be witness to what was going on re the fraud ring.
  2. Hi All Thanks so much for the helpful comments With regards to compensation, I am not bothered about that - it is the fraudulent activity that I feel so strongly about. In terms of the PPI - yes I will pursue this with FO as this an ongoing matter so they should be able act on it The £6000+ they have offered is PPI plus the 8% interest. However, when you add together the actual payments of PPI from my statements, it comes to over £12000 before the interest is added on. YB response to my concern re this was that obviously as I had taken out another loan before the original one ended, there was an amount of rebate from the PPI. No mention has ever been made of a refund either verbally or in writing or on my statements - in fact, I have a letter from YB dated 2008 when I took out my third loan with them and they clearly detail the amount of the loan and the amount of PPI and state that the PPI was 'immediately paid' to the insurer. They do not mention any rebate and there is none that shows up on my statement - the figures on my statement are exactly as detailed in the letter. With regards to YB being devious - I believe they were fined over £21 million in 20015 for altering customer records to remove evidence of PPI and also giving false information to FSA/FO. Not a good track record for any bank. I would be very interested to know if anyone else has had this kind of problem with Yorkshire Bank. I only noticed it when I was applying for my bank charges to be repaid - a total of £7,500 - I had to go through all my statements with a fine toothcomb and it was only because of this that I spotted the original loan anomaly in 2002. I queried it but have never got a straight answer fro YB. The loans seem to appear for about 24 hours along with your actual loan and then disappear with a catch all phrase on the statement ie '/debit under advice'
  3. Hi the_bloke I would understand your response if I ever did internet banking with YB but I never have. And the statements are way back in 2002 and 2004 probably before Internet banking was thought of. What is worrying is that with reference to the loans, the amounts are different - one is for £14,278.47 and the other one is for£14,329.80. One loan clearly pays off my old loan but the other one has the amount for PPI deducted and then an entry 'Debit under Advice' for the same date and then disappears out of my account. The other interesting thing is that when you add the different amounts of PPI onto each account (ie !4,278.47 + £2198.08 ) it totals £16,476.55. If you add the other loan instalment with the second amount of PPI - it also totals £16,476.55. There are definitely two loan amounts paid in on the same day and two amount of PPI paid out on the same day all different. One loan is definitely labelled 'To Repay old Loan' and the second one is labelled 'Debit under advice' and that item amounts to the loan - the PPI. When I challenged this with Yorkshire Bank in 2007, I was told that if the loans appeared in my account I must have had them! Yorkshire Bank now say that one of the loans was paid off (by me ) but refuse to tell me the mechanism of payment or the date. I have never been in a position to pay any loan off early unless I have taken out a 'top up' loan. According to my internal source, this is how the ring of managers and senior clerks actually carried out the embezzlement - duplicating customer applications but making them for slightly different amounts so that in the systems, they didn't flag up as duplicate loans. These applications were initialled off by either a senior clerk (in the know) or a junior clerk who did as they were told (as my source did). They had to leave the 'loan' in a customer account for at least 24 hours in case of random checks. The money was then removed and if the customer queried it, they were told 'Oh it was a glitch and has been corrected' This would appear to be true to the customer as there was overall only one loan that they were paying for. Yorkshire Bank carried out an internal investigation around 2004 and several managers and senior clerks were got rid of - the manager of my branch was one of these. When I queried the loan in 2007 at the main branch and asked to see him I was told that 'Yorkshire Bank had dispensed with his services' I am not panicking about this matter - I am just angry because for years I could not get credit and was always given the response that it was due to my 'excessive borrowing' and I also will say that I have the statements that show all my other loans with Yorkshire Bank and there is only the one loan instalment shown along with the PPI payment. Nothing suspicious or confusing. The suspect mortgage loan was also in 2004 and the statement is for over 8 months after I actually took the £16000 extension on my mortgage. It shows not just one amount of £16000 but two and also a debit amount (unspecified) for £341.71. It then shows that the whole amount of £32,341.71 was paid off within 24 hours. Not corrected but simply shows as a credit. It also has a completely different account number to my actual account. Hope this makes it clearer.
  4. Hi Mafya and Nightrider I have wondered about the Serious Fraud Squad and am thinking now that I will approach them. Hadn't thought about Private Eye - always remember them as being more of a satirical institution than and avenging one. Nightrider - could you give me some more details re this - might be an avenue worth pursuing if I don't get anywhere with more conventional approaches
  5. Hi sgtkate I'm not sure if fraud has the 6 year limitation or whether it is just the FO can't act if the event is more than 6 years ago. Thanks for the recommendation - will try and contact Jeffrey. I have tried a couple of solicitors recently but haven't pursued it as they didn't really seem to grasp the concern. Think it is complicated as I have not actually been defrauded of money but have been defrauded of my creditworthiness and good name.
  6. Hi Mossdog Yes - have approached FO but the problem is that the anomalous transactions happened over 6 years ago and FO states that there is a 6 year limitation on complaints. I can make a complaint re the PPI but not the major concern as the first happened in 2002 and the mortgage loan was 2004 (tho I had never seen a copy of this statement until recently) Thanks for your good wishes - I really need advice, even if it is to approach a more national firm of solicitors Yes, it does feel like a David and Goliath task but that is what banks rely on - that the little man will back off and let them get away with whatever they want - even internal fraud.
  7. Hi Mossdog I have thought about going down that route but really want to be sure of my facts and have someone confirm that this is what has happened. So far every communication I have had with YB has had the response from them that they are trying to to deny everything and wiggling out of things. Whilst I am fairly certain that this is what has gone on with my customer details, it is another thing for someone to actually say 'Yes - yo are right'. I also don't want to give Yorkshire Bank any ammunition in terms of them having too much info from me so that they can prepare a defence.
  8. Hi I am desperately trying to find a good solicitor who can take on a case which is quite complex and unusual. I recently applied for PPI compensation and after a lengthy period of time my bank (Yorkshire Bank) have gone from claiming that I never had PPI to admitting that they owed me over £6000. However, in the process of this lengthy fight with them, I completed an SAR and got all my documents which showed that the PPI I paid out was more than 3 times the amount they are claiming they owe. Also, in the process I noticed a number of anomalous transactions relating to my current account and mortgage account. During a chat with a friend of my daughters, I discovered that he was an ex Yorkshire Bank employee and he revealed that during the early 2000's Yorkshire Bank conducted a huge internal investigation regarding a ring of managers and senior clerks who duplicated customer details for loans and then secreted the funds from the customer account and into another account where the money was shared out between these employees. He was interviewed at one point as he had done what a senior clerk had told him and signed off on a number of these loans. I initially queried one of my loans as far back as 2007 but was stonewalled by the bank and I couldn't get any further with it, so had to drop it. Now I have the above information and it would appear that they had used my account for embezzling funds including paying two instalments loans into my account on the same day and with two amounts of PPI being paid. The loans are for slightly different amounts but are both in the region of £14,200. When you add together a loan instalment and a PPI payment both loans come to exactly the same amount (Hope this bit makes sense). One loan obviously runs as I can see payments going out each month. The second one 'disappears' the next day - and the entry on my statement simply says 'Debit under Advice' According to the bank I paid this loan off but refuses to tell me how or when it was paid - I certainly didn't pay it off as I never had it and why would I take a loan out for the same amount on the same day and then immediately pay one of them off? I also have a mortgage statement that is highly suspect which shows a loan of £16000 being taken out in my name. Initially I did take a loan of this amount but this statement shows two amounts of £16000 being taken + an amount of £341 being taken out and then the whole amount of £32,341 being repaid on the same day - which I certainly did not do as all my statements show that I continued to pay the original £16000 loan until 2008 when I settled it. I would welcome any recommendations for a solicitor who has experience in this kind of case and who won't charge me extortionate prices for it. Apologies for such a long post, but this is the brief version. Any help welcome.
  9. I agree - but when things go wrong 3 times, they should man up and take responsibility. Not hide behind their legal department and argue the toss when it is very apparent from looking at the car that things have gone horrible wrong. Nor should they lie through their teeth and tell me that, although they agree that something is wrong and their attempt to buff it doesn't work, no bodyshop will now touch it as 'too much has gone wrong' - their words, not mine. Especially when 3 other bodyshops have taken one look at the car and pretty much gone 'Who the hell has done that'.
  10. I agree with the above post. I am currently in contention with ChipsAway who had 3 goes at repairing a scuff on my wheel arch. They had 2 goes themselves and then sent it to their 'bodyshop specialist' who had a go. The repair has deteriorated and is still deteriorating. I have written to them and their HQ and basically have been told that I have got my facts wrong. I told them at the outset that the car had had a main dealer body shop repair on that side but I was assured by their operative that this should not make any difference and should not affect their repair. If they had told me that there was any doubt, I would never have let them near it. My car is my pride and joy. Can you tell me if they made you pay for the first repair before having a second attempt? I note that you got a refund so that implies that you were made to pay even tho you did not find their repair acceptable. I am facing a bill of over £800 to put right what should have been a simple repair. So far the only responses I have had from them is that I have got all my facts wrong, that I took my car to them because I had fallen out with my main dealer (Utter rubbish) and that they bore no responsibility for damaging my car to the point at which it is having to go to the main dealer body shop for repair. They are taking photos and preparing a report cos I will NOT let these shysters get away with things and I am taking them through court.
  11. Did anyone attend the performance of Riverdance at the Royal Concert Hall in Notts on Sat 15th May. Took my Mum as her 80th birthday treat and she was enthralled by the baritone singer who sings Heal Their Souls. She really would like an album by this singer - not bad for someone who is completely tone deaf and can't carry a tune in a bucket! In the programme it says the baritone is Charles Gray but when researching on Tinternet, all photos of Charles Gray for the Riverdance tour show a guy who looks nothing like the one that was singing. Photos show a lean looking person and the one that was singing must have been easily 20stone. He had the most superb voice but now need to know if it was a sub. Have tracked (pardon pun - not intended) a Charles Gray on Amazon, but he is an R and B singer and sounds nothing like this guy, however, on his blog he does say he is touring with Riverdance. Photo on blog shows youngish fit guy as well so now even more convinced singer we saw was an understudy, unless Charles Gray has eaten all the pies in the last few months. Can anyone help? Many thanks
  12. The merc that seem to be involved, appeared to be undamaged but was boot on to the wall around the cricket ground as though it had skidded off the roundabout. I'm just really worried about the fact that ambulance was not showing any signs of going anywhere despite having all blue lights going, and the fact that there was a buggy on the pavement. Although undamaged, really worried that a baby may have been involved. Agree on comments about that roundabout - trouble is camber is all wrong and if it rains, it becomes really greasy and slippy. Hope all is ok
  13. Anyone know what the accident was at Meadowhead roundabout tonight. Got there about 5.30 and was directed down Meadowhead road towards Morrisons. At that point could see black merc on pavement with boot to wall around cricket ground opp Audi. What worried me was that there was ambulance with blue lights flashing but not attempting to pull away and there was a baby's buggy not far from the merc. A bit later, police had completely closed roundabout off and would only allow traffic down bochum parkway or bowshaw road. There seemed to be lots of police cars blocking off approach roads and what seemed to be a large van with people measuring angles and distances, etc. Really, really worried that someone has come to grief again.
  14. After going for walk in Chatsworth estate, came back via road from Baslow to Totley about 4.45 pm today. About a mile from Baslow and before the Curbar turnoff, we came across tailback of traffic and could see police and fire service blue lights going. Another fire engine arrived from Chesterfield and whilst we were waiting in queue, chainsaw was started up and stretcher brought from ambulance. Didn't look good. Does anyone know what happened. The traffic was all being turned round and redirected to the Milthorpe turn off. Hope it wasn't as serious as it looked. Thoughts are with anyone injured or worse in the accident.
  15. Can totally recommend AM Autos, Balaclava Road off Infirmary Road = near Pagetts. Went to them after bad experience with Carnalls. Have been with them for 21 years - ask for Bill or John. Have never been ripped off - went to them when I was a poor, single parent student and never got charged full price for job as they knew my cicumstances. Now see them once a year for MOT but will not see them for 3 years now as have just got brand new Audi which won't need MOT yet. Can't recommend highly enough.
