  3. Weatherspoons did not do anything to celebrate St Georges Day,Why? Every other United Kingdom Saint was celebrated at Weathersoons by serving their national dish and having flags. What have Weatherspoons got against the English? Not even one tiny flag to be found in Rawson Spring.
  4. Well we try and make it as big a celebration as St Patricks,we will be in the Rawson in Red and White,I suppose we may get some queer looks but who cares.

  13. Question should jobseekers be made to work? Answer a A lot of them already are working fiddling for a few quid extra,so there must be jobs out there but these employers get them on the cheap clamp down on them.I will now wait for the flack.
  14. The Oxford is where I got the YoYo bug,I remember it well we all thought we were going to do all the tricks just like the man doing the demonstration.
  15. We were discussing this the other day,how is it that pubs owned by the same company can charge more than others? It was said that the Rawson Spring is the most expensive Weatherspoon of all they must think we have got plenty of money in Hillsborough, even the coffee is mor expensive than anywhere else.
  16. I remember the Maroczics they lived down at the bottom of Rudyard, but did not know them well I think they also had a son.
  17. I remember when everyone was having flush doors and graining them must have been early fifties,my father spent all week doing ours and on the sunday morning my brothers got up early and decided to paint them red.
  18. After the tiled fireplace and the cooker that has been mentioned before I remember us getting our first proper Radiogram and us kids buying our first 45 record,it was Diana by Paul Anka.
  19. Hello Isal I bet this thread has brought back happy memories,Coronation Street had nothing on Rudyard Road in the old days. Never a dull moment always something going off one way or another,I have sent you a message telling you who I am Sweatshopboy is my brother you may not know him. I knew your Dad when he was young living behind the Infirmary he was a friend of my Uncles that was in the late forties.
  20. Well said Zenia,I like the part about The Drinking Sheds because that is a very good description they are not pubs. Even though I frequent one I only go in because it is handy for my bus and my friends and myself sit in a little corner which is like a little snug but there is no proper Landlord and Landlady (Poper Mine Hosts) to converse with and no repartee like a good old fashioned pub.
  21. Pearly raised over one thousand pounds for the start of the annual charity weekend at The Rivelin which does not start until May but they are making an early start to try and double last years amount.Well done.
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOoL8B4MEkw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb7S8-Iewi0 The Stones, and The Hollies were the best.
  23. I remember Norma and Janis but cannot think of there surname, and Elsie Rylett and the Hodgsons Terry Hodgson married Audrey Willey who lived on Kipling Road but divorced, Hazel Horton lives near me I see her quite a lot. I saw Harvey Moon the first time round and loved it but I keep forgetting to watch it this time, The Memo is still there but I don't know what it is used for certainly not used for dances like it used to be when we were young.
