  1. Thats piffle, most of the buildings on that road are under the broomhill conservation area!!!!
  2. Very well said, I agree wholeheartedly
  3. But this building had only just come into the ownership of the Childrens, I would say they hardley had time to put any plans together for the renovation work before the building was selfishly hijacked by these squatters. If they have any decency they will find somewhere more suitable nd move on quickly, It's obvious that theres a lot of bad feeling towards them for taking over this perticular property that was earmarked for a much, much better use by the childrens hospital.
  4. So really the working for the whole community malarky is a load of cobblers then, It seems they pick and choose who gets the benefit of the *cough* workshops.
  5. There is a rather good indian take away there now, a chinese on the shops at Lodge moor. It looks like one of the other units on the cost cutter row of shops will soon be some sort of fast food outlet, there's a planning application on the window at the moment
  6. Exactly, I'm pretty sure there are many more buildings that would be more practical to use. It seems the squatters are under the impression the N.H.S are a whole unit rather than the trusts it's actually broken up into who all have a financial budget for the year. The fact that the building they are squatting in belongs to the childrens hospital will have gotten peoples backs up more than most, after all the majority of us will have taken our children there for care at some point. If the squatters have any decency they will see that eventually they will cost money that could be spent on treating children and find somewhere with LESS OF AN IMPACT ON THE LOCAL COMMUNITY!!! after all they seem to care about it so much
  7. The building had only recently come into the ownership of the N.H.S, the poor buggers never got chance to start what they intended.
  8. Well, if you have the good grace to exit this building and find somthing more suitable they wont need to be bound by protocol will they... In the end the costs WILL come from the childrens budjet for the year.. meaning that somthing else will have to be pushed aside
  9. Prehaps the bigger plan for this building was for a good cause as a treatment centre, having only just purchaced the building I should expect the trust had no time to impliment any plans for the property. Given it had phiso equiptment moved to it, I expect thats what the building would have become at some point in the future
  10. Well, you would say that. How do you feel about the costs the care trust will incur removing you from this property? Are you aware that the money will have to come from the childrens (hospital) budjet and not the N.H.S as a whole? and how do you feel about that?
  11. How do you know this as fact? are you N.H.S. staff or a squatter?
  12. The exact numbers of the building are in the article that was on the stars website http://www.thestar.co.uk/headlines/Squatters-hitting-childrens-recovery.5721974.jp Selfish moochers, hope they are shown the error of thier ways
  13. I read that on the stars website. The house they have taken over is used for storing equitment for physio, the star said the squatters will not allow the staff in to gain access to the equiptment to treat the children. Disgusting, I think in this case the law should turn a blind eye and someone should go and show the selfish gits the error of thier ways refusing to let little children get the medical care they need
  14. As some of you will be aware we lost a hen to the fox a few weeks ago, having spoken to other hen owners locally I hear that there has been a huge increase in fox attacks in the Fulwood/Lodgemoor area. The lady next door to me had one taken, some one down the road lost four in one go and I heard some one also lost a duck. Yesterday one of the school run moms asked me if mine were O.K yesterday because a hen making a horrid noise woke her at 5:30. I wanted to ask if hen owners in other areas had noticed an increase in attacks in the last few months? I have had my ladies 3 years and have never known the foxes to take so many in such a short space of time.
  15. wanted the fresh eggs yes the kids adore them, and I am getting quite attatched too we have had our ladies for just over two years at the moment I have two black rocks, we did have a bluebelle too but the fox had her a few days ago We had an isa brown with our first black rock and she was great with the kids, she died last year. Our first two were rescue hens, when the isa brown died we went to storrs for another two. we have a cat who has a healthy respect for the hens my hens free range when I am around to keep an eye of them, otherwise they stay in the run. I was never given any tips but have to say be prepared to suffer the odd fox attack, and try to stay on top of mite infestation.
  16. We have thought about this, but it's not practical with the kiddies. Bit like a moth to a lightbulb.. I have been confining them to the eglu run and so far so good. there was a slight start of what looked like an attempt to dig under the skirt, but foxy got bored when he realised it was too wide.
  17. Don't worry, you will be fine. Women have been giving birth for thousands of years. Just do not let the staff boss you around. I find the best course of action with jessops is to get it over with as soon as possible and get home.. Remember it's your birth and be strong with the Midwives, some of them seem to think women in labour should have no choices.
  18. I gave birth at Jessops in March, with my third child. I was littrally crowning as I got to the entrance. There was no one stood in reception so I had to bang on the door to get someones attention(i really thought I was going to give birth in the entrance hall) when they let me in they put us in one of those waiting suites. I remember looking round and thinking wheres the bed?? after I sort of yelled somthing along the lines of babys comming NOW, they wheeled me into a labour suite with my waters gushing. On the way down the midwife casually stopped in her tracks and started having a bit of a chat with her mate At this point I could feel my son pushing his way into the world quite forcefully. I turned round looked at her and shouted 'look this baby is comming get me in that room NOW' I think this woke her up a little and she looked a bit sheepish, apologised and rushed me in. It's a good job she did because as soon as I got on the bed his head was out and it was all over in five mins. The room was dirty, there was dried blood allover the floor, walls and the celing. I remember thinking 'not a prayer' when the midwife asked me to have a bath. I basically refused to stay and we were at home when baby was less than 6 hours old. The staff were rushed off their feet that was clear to see, but the rooms were filthy and I get the feeling that if I had been the sort to just put up with it I would have had my baby in the corridor whilst the midwife had a chat with her mate. I took my newborn home as soon as I could, I felt home was the safest place for him. I did not want to stay in a room that was coverd in dried blood and god knows what else, we did not even go up to the ward.
  19. Yes I saw that, but am a little reluctant untill I am sure the eglu alone is safe from attack. I built a big square run and there was a little chickenwire tunnel leading from the eglu run to the handmade one, fox got in through the tunnel. Eglu claim the run is foxproof so I'll buy one of the run extenders and see how we go for a while first.
  20. It was very clean considering, fox had ripped her head and neck clean off from the breast he just left the body laying on the lawn, no blood or guts just a few stray feathers. I think if I had not been as quick out the back door it would have been a lot worse.
  21. It was about 6:45 this morning it had been light for about half an hour, I think in future they can have a lay in untill 7 or 8. It must have really shook up the hens because little beaky is a bit of a squirmer when you pick her up and she just sat in my arms with her head on my chest. Bluebelle was picked personally by my son so he is most upset.
  22. I had only gone and let them out ten mins beforehand. Little beaky alerted me to a problem crying outside the back door, as I opened the door I startled the damn fox who dropped my lovley Bluebelle and ran off with her head:cry: Poor bluebelle, kids are mortified and the rest of the hens are restless poor things. The bloody thing had forced it's way into the extented run and chased two of them out, old wise black rock ran back into the omlet run and hid in the eglu. So I guess I will be binning off my handmade run and buying a run converter from omlet, unless anyone has one to sell on here? It must have watched me letting them out this morning, waited for me to get out of sight and snuck in for the kill. I know people will say it was just a hen, but she was more than that to me and the kids:(
  23. I think the jist of it is we all noticed them being built, it was just a shock to find out that they were mainly halls. It would have been hard not to notice the constant flow of H.G.V and plant flowing in and out of the site, equally hard not to notice the little road sweeping lorry that constantly held up the traffic on Fulwood Rd. The students dont cause to many issues personally for me, But then again I am not sandwiched between the two large villages.
  24. Well not being a 4x4 driving mother I can't comment on the rush hour. I don't drive at all.. thats why I use the bus!!!! I have nothing against students, I just wish they would pay some consideration to others around them and not swing great rucksacks round without looking. And just to clear up, I had noticed the daily road sweep, just like I noticed the boxes of rooms being deliverd.. And just to add.. I stil think they are butt ugly, poorly constucted prefabs cleverly disguised as a real building.. I'll look forward to the constant lorry loads of new ones in 10 years when this lot have worn out/blown down/burnt to the ground
  25. Yes, the last I heard they were trying to build residential housing.. then all of a sudden theres about a million portacabins getting cladded up to look like real buildings. think I will start walking down to broomhill with the pram, allready had one daft fresher allmost dump his rucksack on my newborn The next one to do anyting simalar will be on the reciving end of my erratic hormone levels.. Prehaps they did not need any planning to just replace the halls that were there before they bulldozed them, or they greased some corrupt palms
