  1. Hi Cathy, it's me, gingercat1, Pat, I went to the Christmas parties at the Twist Drill, my dad and brother both worked there. I remember all the bath cubes and talc, you know, all that girly stull they handed out, I loved it. When I came home on a vacation I took my eldest daughter there, she loved it! I often think about those days, seems like just yesterday.

  8. i did nails for about 6 years, in the usa, you need to keep checking to see if they losen in the back and sides, because if they do, water can get in and then you have a terrible time trying to get rid of the fungus, bleach will kill it, but you need to get the right stuff to remove it. sorry i don't know what it would be called over there.

My Mom Kept A Dark Brown Bottle Of Some Yellow Colored Thick Liquid, When My Brother Pulled Hot Water From The Kettle Onto His Chest She Grabbed The Bottle And Really Doused Him With It, Then Put Some Kind Of Pad Over It, He Never Had A Scar From That Accident, Does Anyone Know What This Stuff Was????

Don't Really Have Anyone Over Us Except The Owner, Very Good Position To Be In, Could Only Do This In The Usa. Get A Free Apartment With All Bills Paid, We Own A House On 3/4 Acre Of Land, But The Renter Is Paying Our Mortgage.

  19. we left in 1967, i was 17, he was 21 and we had a 9 month old, came to a place where we didn't know anyone. i hadn't even seen american money till we arrived. i always said that if we had the money that first year, i would have gone home, it was really hard, 12 miles to the nearest supermarket, 2 1/2 miles i walked to the nearest general store, carrying the baby and walking back carrying her and the groceries. all laundry was done by hand, we had it hard but it was well worth it......
  20. lived in usa for 39 years now, at this time in texas. i've been home on visits but it has changed so much, i don't think i could live there and be happy, though it will always be home for me. i came here to give the kids a better life than i had growing up, times were tough, but we still had fun, but i wanted more for my girls.
  21. dad smoked woodbine and for christmas one year my brother and i bought 5, a pack of polo mints and a shaving stick, we took everything out of their packets and filled a brown paper sack, this made it look like he had more!! only trouble was that the cigs tasted like minty soap.we also gave mom black majic chocolates, only because we knew she didn't like them and that way we would get to eat them all! was a lot of fun being a poor kid.
