  1. :hihi::hihi: Cant afford hold ups, time is money.
  2. The new cameras are HUGE. You cant miss 'em. The A61 has a shocking history. Its worth a try. The stretch from Crown Inn to Tankersley roundabout needs 'em as well. Howbrook crossroads has a terrible history of accidents.
  3. The replies to this thread are nothing short of magnificent !!!! People out there really DO care. I take my hat off to you guys.
  4. A village somewhere needs a new idiot.............why dont you apply ?? If you cant post sensibly go find another forum. Most of your contributions can only be described as trolling, you are not even funny. The same appplies to all the other 'comedians' who have contributed to this thread. I cant be bothered to name you all.
  5. Thats her, I spotted Alwyn on Look North, he did a brief interview. ---------- Post added 14-01-2013 at 00:18 ---------- I remember the Carousel when it was the Midland Hotel. It was as busy as a mortuary, with the same atmosphere. The Landlord was Stuart Earnshaw. He had a VERY big dog, it had once crapped in one of the rooms and the pile was like a pile of horse****. We couldn't stop laughing, the dog had a real smug look on his face. ---------- Post added 14-01-2013 at 00:24 ---------- I think libraries and sports facilities are more important than a pub, unless the pub has a historical interest like the Carbrook or the Old Queens Head.
  6. Reporting a Traffic Bobby ??? Watch out, they will find your reg via your name and adress and you will find yourself being 'pulled'..............regularly.
  7. Stop kidding yourself, you aint that bright. If you need religion, fine. If you dont then stop knocking it. People decide for themselves. An atheist is more boring than any believer.
  8. I liked Jessops. I could go in and ask my amateurish questions and they would put me right. The service was excellent, the shops were well set out. Camera phones are OK but are no replacement for a camera. I use both and each has its uses. I bought cameras and binoculars at Jessops but the smaller sundries such as lens filters, bags etc are cheaper on Amazon. I for one will miss them.
  9. I was mooching around what used to be Nevilles allotment at Warren. Its all overgrown now. He played cornet, so did his twin? brother Terry. They played with Ecclesfield or Chapeltown Band. If Neville is still alive he must be pushing 80 by now. I lived at Westwood Row the same time as him. He worked at Thorpe pit [i think] then left to join the brigade. My dad always said they had to cut 6" off his axe handle to stop it trailing on the floor.
  10. Neville Wilkinson was an auxillary fireman I believe. He then went on to join the service full time. I seem to remember the firestation was just inside the current Ronseal site and the buildings are still there. I used to watch the pump being used down at the pond down at the 5 arches.
  11. Pension funds are often invested in house building, but when certain people have no intention of paying into any pension funds, remember ?????? Where will the investment come from ??????
  12. :hihi::hihi: Yeah, Why not ?? Plus the Jamaican climate is so good we can relocate there after they all settle here. We'll just do a swop.
  13. Beaking news.............Calandar news 10-30 pm " 2 men aged 20 and 21 have been CHARGED with the murder"
  14. 2-30pm this afternoon I passed the site of the murder. I have learned a car I saw at the scene had been on fire, some guys were working with a camera?? and tripod and the Police helicopter was circling overhead. Our old Forum friend Mr Benn has posted on the Sheffield Star website stating that 'everyone in Highgreen knows who killed Mr Greaves'. He says he is not surprised to learn who they are. Over the years, inactivity on the part of South Yorkshire Police has resulted in toerags just running riot and pleasing themselves. I must be the only Highgreen resident who dosent know who did it.
  15. Ha Ha , Lib Dems gone, Ukip down the drain, Torys up the spout and all done by themselves. Labour dont have to lift a finger to win next time. Those poor Tory supporters :hihi::hihi: ---------- Post added 10-01-2013 at 21:25 ---------- Is this Syrups joke thread ?? Have I got lost ?? :hihi:
  16. I remember the Belchers running the Oak. Their son, Alwyn, trained our Olympic Gold Medalist boxer, Nicola watsername [cant remember her second name]. He was a tidy boxer himself. I was a Coach and Horses man, Ossie Burkinshaw had it then. Chapeltown thrived in those days, good pubs, good businesses, a proper community. But, times change, often for the worst.
  17. GreenWeb, you have admitted in this thread to working 'cash in hand'.That makes you a scrounger and a freeloader. YOU are not paying your share. If I were you I would shut up, someone may know you and report you to the Inland Revenue. We who DID pay our way expect our just deserts......... You will expect being supported in your old age, unless someone strangles you first. Worra nob............
  18. Less pubs+ less crappy fastfood outlets = less loonies causing mayhem at night. Asda/Walmart wiped out all the shops even opening a Pharmacy across the road from a long established one. It also has an opticians dept as well. All Asda needs now is a tattoo parlour, a hairdressers and a massage parlour. Maybe now all the loonies will go to town at night...............and join the rest.
  19. "We get the government we deserve". Whoever voted for this shower I do not know. I think Cameron wants to go down in history as being worse than Maggie. Clegg and Osborn are too thick to get the joke. Cameron surrounds himself with idiots to make himself look intelligent. All he needs is Duncan Smith and he will look like Einstein.......
  20. I get more than £140 a week from my own private pensions, plus interest from investments PLUS the State Pension when I get it. I grafted and was wise with my cash, it was hard earned. Shut up whinging and moaning. Get your head down, do a good days work 6 and 7 days a week and you may achieve the same. You have a lot to learn............if it ever sinks in. ---------- Post added 09-01-2013 at 01:56 ---------- Ha Ha Ha.....................you should be on the stage:hihi:
  21. As for raising the retirement age chem1st, most of us did lousy dirty dusty hazardous jobs, many are now paying the price with lung diseases etc. Many of us are knackered. We had no soft office jobs, we had to graft for a living. I myself was a swing grinder, quite highly paid but VERY dirty and hazardous. We have seen both sides of the coin and you younger lot have it far easier due to Health and Safety legislation. Stop whinging, get on with it, you lot owe us !!!
  22. Have you always been 'hard of thinking' or is it just an isolated attack??? The basic pension only represents something like 25% of the average natonal salary so it is unfairly low. I am not quite a pensioner yet, I have 18 months to go but only work part time due to disabilities. We paid higher proportions of our incomes into the state scheme than you probably do, plus basic rates of income tax were considerably higher than now. When I started work the basic rate of tax was 35%. We did 'proper' jobs as well, like steelmaking, engineering and mining, not soft jobs like IT and call centers. If you were stood in front of me and started calling me a disgrace I would have to take issue with you. You are a total moronic disgrace. With your attitude I dont think you will reach pension age..............................
  23. Fingers crossed the psycho has been caught. A decent caring guy's life taken by a piece of scum.
  24. "Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level then beat you with experience." Anon.
  25. Show photo's round the pubs. Someone will recognise them. Its only a matter of time. There's a Vets clinic on Greengate Lane, just take 'em there and have them put down.
