  1. Good old Wikipedia, like nobody can change that :hihi:

Let us concede that Sheffield United (formed so as to play games at Bramall Lane after The Wednesday abandoned it as being to small) are indeed the first team to use the name United , this was followed by thousands of Uniteds World wide and leaves the irrevocable fact that there is only one Wednesday :hihi:

  2. Maybe, but the layout of the market does not lend itself to that. The catering units have custom kitchens. They also share seating space for efficiency reasons. It would just get in the way with the new market due to the flow of people. At last the units have stabilised and some of them are doing ok. People always find reasons to moan.

Suggesting a different lay out is not moaning .

If you study the cafe section layout it would be a simple exercise to to create individual areas for many of the traders , this would improve on the problem that has arisen where some people are using the eating section as a private club some times pulling tables together so as to create their own little space while actual customers are stood around looking for some where to sit and eat.

  3. he has a whole box full of broken records...

Broken biscuits was a big treat at the old market hall .

If you have a look at the nostalgia board in the corner of the coffee shop as you enter the new mall you will find the clue:D

Hurrah! Here we go again, more nonsense about 'proper Sheffielders' and how Castle Market was an architectural gem which was the envy of every other UK city. Change the record Judd/cuttsie/[insert latest alias] and go outside and see the world as it really is or was.

Why not answer the post and give your opinion on the matter in hand.

I will reiterate! would it be better if each cafe had its own section as was the case in the old market and is now the situation at the new Barnsley cafe section ..

  4. Good luck finding a table if you buy your dinner from there. The tables are full of folk who just sit there chatting all day, having bought nothing more than a single cup of tea. Ive been twice, each time buying a fish n chip lunch (which was very nice), but had to wait ages for a chair to come free, and then had to share a table with folk you didn't know. Its not very pleasant.

Take a look at Barnsley's new market cafe area, each cafe has its own area staffed by table cleaners ,the pride in the appearance has to be seen to believed .

The similar system in the old Castle market was much better than the shambles down the Moor.

  5. Parson Cross is one of the poorest areas in Europe.)

That doesn't make the majority of people living there 'pond-life.' It means they need more help and investment than most.

Poverty is not pretty, and comes with costs for the rest of society, another reason why real help is a necessity. What they get is the occasional sticking plaster.

No leafy lined roads or hundred year old trees to protect on the Cross ;)

  6. It will be interesting to see if McCabe will look to bring in new investors in the Blades if promotion is confirmed in the next few weeks.

Championship level will make the Blades a lot more attractive to potential investors, simply because it is the last stopping off point to the PL,as we have seen with a lot of clubs already at that level, but even before a ball is kicked, the Blades will be ahead of a few teams in that division as an investment project because of the potential and structure of the club.

    Who owns the ground?

  7. That's fine, but its still 10mpg less, plus mine is a larger car/hatchback and an auto to boot with a 1.8 fuel injected petrol engine..AND, it doesn't sound like a farm tractor as all diesels do,...don't knock it unless you've tried it,far too many armchair critics...my last two diesels were a "C"/"E" Class and both were very noisy running about locally, but ok an a motorway at 70mph,but to get back to the original post....Should diesel vehicles be banned from the city centre?,..NO...

    ....

The less well off drive old Cleo's Berlingo's, Fords, Vauxalls etc and as usual it will be they who bare the brunt of any new restrictions that come in regarding banning these older cars from the road in any future Government plans.

If you can afford the new hybrids then all well and good but as stated its them at the bottom that will suffer.

  8. Renewals on Kop from as little as £288 for adults.

Absolute credit to Sheffield United for this pricing structure.

Especially when you consider that fans wouldn't have grumbled with a 10% increase.

My season ticket on the kop at hillsbro is £255 credit to the Owls.

  9. What have you learnt from life ? If you could go back in time what advice would you give to your 15 year old self.

I would tell her to go into the profession she enjoys and feels comfortable with. Don't go for the money as you will be miserable and bored.

To get a proper education .

To be more tolerant of toss pots.

To never tell some some one to do things always ask them.

To never support a football team.

To always stick up for people less fortunate than yourself .

To never believe all you read in the press or see on TV.

And last but not least to keep of public forums:hihi:

  10. This.

The two issues mentioned in the opening post are completely separate but samssong has linked the two simply to justify yet another of his xenophobic rants. Check the other threads he starts, they're all anti-Arab or anti-Muslim.

I own several cars and have difficulty parking close to home (thank you Sr Andrew Cash)? Owning a car park would make it easier.

I believe the Saudi Royals are the Worlds biggest rogue state .

They treat there own citizens with disdain ,this inc covering women from head to toe , marrying of young lasses at very a young age , not allowing women to drive, and treating foreign workers and domestic servants like slaves ,some domestic women are sexually assaulted as reported on a regular basis on our news outlets.

Most of their victims are Muslim or Arab themselves and if you go back to some of my early posts you will find that i have campaigned for justice for those people.

xenophobic I am not although my dislike of the ruling class in Saudi Arabia knows no bounds .

Please refrain from personal attacks and it would also help if you could reply to posts in black lettering just the same as all the others on these threads that way you will blend in without having an unfair advantage.

  11. A student at Cambridge University has been filmed burning a £20 note in front of an homeless man .

It seems as though members of the Bullingdon club are encouraged to this behaviour as a initiation to membership , Boris Johnson and David Cameron are well known past members.

The new recruit is reported to be a relation of Nicola Sturgeon the Scottish first minister.

Perhaps he qualifies for Chav status or is that just for lads on council estates.

  12. A member of an Arab royal family has solved his car parking problems (when in London) by buying the car park for 21 million pounds .

He parks his 80 super cars dressed in striped car covers in his new acquisition .

The cars are believed to worth more than the price he paid for the car park.

Mean while Oxfam are appealing for more donations to their fund so as clean running water can be sourced to over 23 million people World wide.

  13. At what point has he claimed to be an expert on the Owls?

This is a forum where both Owls, Blades and fans from further afield can discuss football. Each is entitled to their own opinion, if you don't agree with it, discuss it.

To be honest, it is getting boring seeing both sets of fans giving digs at one another for discussing the other teams.

If you don't like Blades discussing Owls affairs and vice versa, then this is certainly not the forum for you.

    As for the articles:

Owls: He is looking at everything objectively but he clearly has a poor performance against Wigan in the back of his mind.. He has a lot of good points in respect of the players signed and realistically, I feel, you should be doing better and scoring more. Perhaps not the top 2, but certainly higher than 6th, but whether they finish 6th or 3rd is irrelevant come the end of the season.

Blades: Off the back of a 4-0 win, top of the league and a goal from the new lads. I can't see why he would be anything but positive, which he was.

Had he been writing after the Fleetwood result, I doubt it would have been so positive.

Football fans are very fickle and teams can go from being the best tp dreadful within 2 games.

Both teams are there or there abouts where you would expect them to be this season.

I think if you offered both set of fans this finish at the end of the season, your hand would be snatched off (Blades especially).

I think that some one has pointed out that out of 45 or so posts only 5 have been about his own team , you would think that fans who support the Blades would be more interested in that team and the same for the owls
