Terry Steeples who was a legend to all who remember the Mucky Duck in its prime has sadly passed away age 85.

Ive just seen Jordan Rhodes dad on Leppings Lane .

I remember the Miners ,steel workers , nurses, power workers and builders strikes.
(I was involved in two of those ).
What I for the life of me can not remember is the lovelies and middle classes standing out side the Town Hall supporting those times .
Instead we got the opposite . with all the Im alright Jack lot writing to the broadsheets telling all and sundry what a rabble the trade unionists of that time where and how holding the Country to ransom should be made to be against the law.
How times change .

It will run Windows 7 without any issues, you might want to upgrade memory module (RAM) if it's less than 1GB? other than that, everything will be fine.
Cheers MozaLan is it an expensive job:help:

You could be right, samssong; but I wonder who has the most commitment and who makes the most passionate effort and serves our democracy better: the rent-a-mob bloke with the black hair, or the rent-a-reactionary forum poster, at home, in his pyjamas?
I Always protest in the nuddi.

I have an old Del 505 lap top that I have fired up today and found it in good working order if a little slow.
It is on Windows XP and I am wondering if it can be upgraded to Windows 7 so as to bring it up to speck a little.
Any thoughts please.

that's when he were"nt selling almanacks.
He had a full team on the old almanacs, Rodney Goodison and Harold Presley helped out now and then.

Sheffield has got a permanent rent a mob who turn up at the Town Hall no matter what the latest cause is about.I hope he does come, it'll be a public relations disaster. The protests will be enormous if Sheffield can get 1000-2000 people out on a Monday night. One bloke with dyed jet black hair is always on the front row and can be seen on teli more than Colombo.

Trevor Pearson rings a bell.
Thats him , I wonder what happened to him after the unexpected call up.

Radio five live this morning have reported that drugs that are used to treat breast cancer have risen ten fold in price over the last few years.

Keith Littlewood used to pitch down there with a Monkey and a camera .
He would plonk the monkey on some ones shoulder and take the photo selling the photo to the victim for two and a tanner.

Does any one remember when the Owls borrowed Woodseats WMC goalkeeper Due to both Springett and Grummitt being injured:)

First is training new drivers. Some of them in their forties, fifties and very insecure, slow.
Not bad people or bad drivers but do everything extremely careful, slow, and cannot do things fast and efficient like younger drivers or older ones who have driven a bus for many years.
It is a mistake to teach elderly people to drive buses because they may never get up to the speed and efficiency that is needed.
They should be put down

i understand all that and you may be right, but the message put out by brexit to the world plus the potential loss of research funding, plus the growing quality and falling costs of universities in closer places like Australia / new zealand means students from the places you mentioned are starting to look elsewhere.. i work for the uni and they are worried at the min.

A lot of the land and disused factories were left empty because large developers bought them and sat on them for years just waiting for a time to develop. i used to rent rehearsal rooms in both areas and you'd be surprised how many were owned by the same company and were left. There are a huge amount of artists/ skilled people and bands looking for rehearsal rooms, studios and workshops in Sheffield. we had a great community almost going on in the cultural industries quarter. Now they've kicked us all out and it is impossible to find anywhere suitable at a decent price anymore, its all bloody apartments or soon to be apartments.
we now have 3 or 4 bands sharing one room because there's nothing else. This is the same with any artist or bands i speak to, unless you can spend £1000 upwards on a industrial unit or willing to cram yourselves into a room the size of a single bedroom for £300 a month your screwed. Some of our best music exports and artists started because we had places to do it, def leopard, arctic monkeys all started playing in factories and old workshops theres very few left.
The CIQ should have been set aside for cultural industries and protected. Who wants to live in a city center that has nothing but housing? where do we all go now?[/quote
Working mens clubs .
They all used to do audition nights that doubled up as practice sessions .
Members got mid week entertainment , the groups got practise and experience .
Ask around the clubs .

Just read that Westminster City Council are going to charge drivers of diesel cars 50% on top of the current rate of £4.90-an-hour to park.
The scheme is likely to be an easy money-making scheme for the council and others could follow suit.
Edmund King, president at the AA, told the Telegraph he expected it to "spread like wildfire".
I wonder how long before SCC decide to follow suit.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/drivers-polluting-diesel-cars-hit-9709291
Not so long ago all the greenies and experts on all things were telling us to buy diesel cars ,now the same experts are telling us the opposite .
The inmates are indeed running the Asylum .

Ditto disused warehouses or even completely levelled land across areas such as Kelham Island/Shalesmoor and between there and West Street. I think I heard that anti-'yuppy' graffitti has started cropping up around Kelham Island; but the vast, vast majority of Kelham Island was emptied of industry and/or working-class residential communities years and years ago, a long time before the potential for it to be a hotspot for profitable private/student accomodation developments raised the eyebrows of developers.
I just don't think some people understand that areas like this won't make a return to how they used to be, and that surely a new use (urban living) has to be better than nothing?
I can understand the resentment of gentrification in areas more like the Cultural Industries Quarter around Arundel Gate/Sheffield Hallam more; there is/was an area much more filled with independant industries (still many empty buildings, mind), but ultimately still at the whim of market forces. I don't think many of those displaced struggle to find alternative premises though.
How do you know that heavy industry will not return ( World economics change all the time and China and India's cheap (slave) labour will not last forever.
This means if and when a turnaround happens all our City's industrial areas will be full of yuppi and student flats , flats that will rapidly empty when the student bubble bursts . and it will:help:

why hasnt Mcgugan gone anywhere yet? Oo
We need him in midfield now that Lee and Hutchinson are out .
He could at least put the ball in the net now and then .
-
Iffy full backs, a lack of cover in central defence and a midfield that doesn't create enough, there are currently 5 teams that have better players.
Bang on any one who actually watches the team can see that our stile of play has been bubbled ,we are not as good as last year and can only hope that the recent signings will click and take us to the play offs .

Then they suffer I'm afraid. Maybe they should have been more careful with money and not <removed> / smoked it away. They could have easily paid into a private medical insurance account if they had wanted to. And if they have never earned enough to do that then maybe they haven't contributed enough to be treat for free anyway.
Clearly those are sweeping statements, but broadly what a capitalist government is about. That's what you'd get in the US and that's what people voted for here. Government clearly cannot give everyone who has a nagging pain for free on the taxes they currently collect. So you have to prioritise who is going to get treatment. That is simply real life. The alternative would be to move to a completely Marxist society, which is what you seem to want. But sadly that doesn't work either.
It does in Cuba if you need an operation you get one regardles of whether you can pay or not and that is why the National Health was formed by a socialist Government .
Far to many people have your attitude of I'm alright Jack so sod you.

You are not Asian if you are from the Middle East but then you are a troll account on here anyway...

It's not an endless story, it shows that the police are catching up to these scumbags and locking the nonces up...

Non Muslims also commit this kind of crime but it isn't given as much publicity as the Muslim ones. Take this non Muslim hockey star from Sheffield just got convicted for child sex offences this week = http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/sheffield-ice-hockey-star-guilty-of-sex-offences-against-girls-1-8350756
Another one here too= http://southyorks.police.uk/news-syp/man-jailed-21-years-child-sex-offences
Muslim sex offenders are the ones facing the most outrage and publicity in various forms compared to non Muslim ones.
All sex offenders need locking up regardless of religion/race and the ones in authority that turned a blind eye also need locking up.
Mafia what you are missing is the racial outlook , the little girls were described as white trash etc by the Asian perpetrators.
As to publicity, the white hockey player got a full page spread in the Star for his disgusting behaviour we would need a full edition to do the same for the Rotherham mob.
I know one of that lot and he sends his women folk out covered from head to toe so as know one actually ever gets to talk or meet them ,double standards don't even enter the equation on that situation.

Yes because long term it would be right for him. He'll have stability and think there the perfect match. Rhodes needs to stay with a club now - and get his head down.
Hows tha know all this info about us Owls and Rhodes, are tha an insider employed by Mr Chasari to keep us informed on whats going on

Forestieri might be a good striker and probably one of the best in the league but I am watching a better striker on TV now. Chris Wood has scored 6 goals in 4 games now and has 17 for the season, so if you lot rate Fernando at 5m then how much his Wood worth? 10m or 12m?
So Wood is better ,your point is ??????

The good folks of Sheffield
Ok - the streets round here are small - when edging out of a blind junction or into traffic with no sight - if you don't want to let me in use the horn on your car - I don't mind, that's what it's there for - it's not a sign of aggression - just makes it easier for us all - just because you can see my bonnet poking out doesn't mean I can see you - think please it will make it easier for us all
My horn was condemned by the MOT man as not being up to standard. although it makes her in doors laugh when I press it to long and it won't go off.

To the OP: why not rescue these items then before they get rained on? Books particularly. Or tell us where the skip is so somebody else can.

Protest at Town Hall... 30/01/2017
in Sheffield News & Discussions
Posted
A protest out side the Town Hall today about the closer of the Dementia centre on Hurlfield View at Gleadless .
This is a protest that all Sheffielders should back as it seems the Council can back and fund shopping centres and new Markets etc but have no money at all for the vital services that really count in this City.
