  1. It will be unbearable in Stocksbridge, Fox valley will be a total nightmare because of the crowds.

Stocksbridge tomorrow the grand tour and its free.

Wild boar roast hog if you are minted and then canapes and salad at one of Stockbridges World famous Tappas bars, get there see the rich and famous mix with the poor and knackered and thats just the spectators.

One dutch cylist, Steven Kruijswijk skipped the last part of Yorkshire so he be prepared for the Italian Giro race that is being held for its one hundred time and was more important for him to win.

Simon Yates (UK) won the queens round of romandy yesterday, he didn't even bother with Yorkshire.

The Belgium winner of our tour refused to compete in the Romandy event as he says that the Yorkshire event is now bigger with better organisation and massive crowds.

  2. I can not believe it!!!!!!, they have done it again .

Today our Star paper has again put out a big awards supplement awarding page after page of season awards to United .

We have ex local (you can,t keep me down) M.P. Richard Caborne , The Lord Mayoress as well as the lord mayoresses hubby along with page after page of grinning Keith Edwards look alikes .

Prematuric blinking supplements now hung at side of bog ripped into six inch squares until season is actually finished and Sheffields real award winners( who will have to make do with the national press) to celebrate the biggest achievement in local sport this year.

  3. My experience of the Sportive event was a delayed start due to road closures, useless parking at a fiver a time, in a field, up a hill that after a 100k you have to re-climb. The very basic of requirements, the road closures, were late and not being done. In fact the start was a complete shambles. The timing of groups went out of the window and we all shuffled together desperate to get started but having to hang around waiting.

A few hundred metres of roll out saw the climb of Pea Royd Lane. It was ridiculous as no warm up was possible. It wasn’t just the gradient that had riders in bits.

The signs I found to be inadequate at downhill turns. The approach was too fast for a single black on red arrow to warn of the change of direction. Not only that but some marshalls didn’t have a clue about directing or indicating it was safe to turn.

The fact the number of climbs was completely wrong made the course impossible to approach strategically. Strava shows me 11 climbs. TdY describes 7. Furthermore, there was no way to find out the gradient, or length. I constantly heard riders asking ‘where they were’ and ‘’which climb is this?’ It was impossible to know as these climbs were not named on the website route.

The finish I found a liability. It’s a good job the pros had no bunch sprint. ALL races at this level and above have 300 metre markers down to 25 m. But the entire length of this finishing straight was 100 m.

I think Fox Valley is totally unsuitable as a venue and useless as a finish.

    You should have stopped in:confused:

  4. Some things should not be run for profit. Care homes for example.

Let's see, how can we maximise profit? Well, we can cut back on staff and manage with the bare minimum, and if that means residents have to wait longer to go to the toilet, tough. And we can cut down on food and drink, so forget the milky horlicks and chocolate biscuit at night, and we'll buy the cheapest ingredients we can get, and cut down portions. And then we can sack the expensive enrichment officer and close the craftroom, that should save a bit, they can all sit and watch telly instead. And forget trips out - do they think we're made of money?

That should make more money for the shareholders, they should be well pleased...

To top it all the much loved and needed Hurlfield View dementier centre has had to close due to lack of funds ,although funds can be found for planning shopping centres that have not yet been built even after twenty years of so called town planning.

  5. Our local rag the Star has surpassed its self this last week with its blatant reporting of all things United .

Todays massive spreads dips the biscuit even further in the tea by awarding United team of the year and Wilder manager of the year.

How they reach this conclusion is baffling even to a neutral when the highest achievers in South Yorkshires six by a Country mile are our Owls who sit in a play off place in the second division 19 places above United also Barnsley who are also miles in front in the same division .

Darron Ferguson over at Doncaster has also been ignored after taking his shoe string side to the top of his division while spending nowt.

So the awards have been awarded by our unbiased local rag and it seems as though if the Owls do the impossible and actually get promoted to the promised land it will be to late to award them the trophy for the best team along with the best manager.

To Top it all this bias paper is on page 69 spouting the headline that the Blades season should be made into a Hollywood film (Shaun Bean in it):hihi:

    Whatever next;)

  6. Having visited Knightsbridge on a few occasions you cannot help but notice the amount of super-wealthy Arab women from places like Kuwait and Saudi Arabia who cover their faces whilst out & about spending their money.

I'm pretty sure London won't be a destination of choice for these women if we criminalise the veil.

They are spending the oil revenue stolen from the people by the so called Royals.

I don't see how anyone wearing one can integrate. Seeing a persons face helps when you are having a conversation.

The naked rambler keeps getting locked up :hihi:

  7. You have to take the rough with the smooth. We both saw Joe Cocker for nowt and some of the finest footballers these islands have produced for a bob or two.

Agree it's a bit rough on the kids of today though if dad can't provide.

What tha on abart kids, its me who can't afford it and mi dad deed in 1954 so mi only hope is sneaking in , as for Joe it cost me a arm and a leg int centre spot when he was on a I met our lass that neet and im'e still paying for it:hihi:

  8. He'd make a good Labour MP, he seems to relish taking on chomping right wing nutjobs. I remember when he ripped the former mayor of Doncaster Peter Davies to pieces.

I remember when he slagged off a couple who had moved to Spain to start a new life with their kids , taking the mick out of their tattoos and broken down old camping gear as well as their attempts to make a go of it in Spain (it was shown on teli).

    Working class hero my <removed>.

  9. I think Wednesday have some good players but not necessarily a good team, unlike United who have built a good team playing good football on a shoestring.

I can't stand Hutchinson, and Carlos is bonkers, "I never blame the ref but", "chickens in the kitchen" and "fish are not potatoes". :loopy::loopy::huh:

As a Blade, on the one hand I don't care about Wednesday but on the other i cannot wish for them to be promoted.

PO final, fine but not promotion, but if they do it won't bother me too much. I would be happy for some of them but not the majority.

As for the forum I don't think it will make too much difference to the baiting, it just goes on and on.

    UTB

I wonder how this post would be treated if it was the other way around ;)

  10. It has

just been announced that my favourite band ever, Queen ,are to appear (without the King obviously) at Sheffield Arena on Dec 8th.

"Wow" thinks me a chance to see this amazing group again (the last time was a Elland Road Leeds seeing Freddy at his very best) .

Then! I looked at the price of a ticket , it is the grand sum of £88 ,a sum that excludes me straight away.

So this has got me thinking is general entertainment now just for the well off in our society ,I mean look at our local football clubs charging £30 plus for some matches (if this involves a family of three or four then its a no go for most people).

Then we have our theatres where the cost of tickets are rising by the month once again meaning that the families that would benefit most from attending the arts are priced right out of contention .

So( just as is now the case in other walks of life )is entertainment and the chance to see our heroes just for the rich

  11. Ebay have started rejecting my selling photographs after years of using the same camera and system in selling adds.

They tell me that my photo's are not now up to standard for some reason this despite my camera being top quality .

So things just get more and more complicated on the site .

    any one else had trouble.

  12. And I bet they are all votes for Ergodan :suspect:

He can do what he wants now , the intellectuals, judges and military languishing in jail as well as the Kurds in northern Syria had better get ready for what ever he will now throw at them without any opposition from any one in Turkey's so called democracy .
