  1. I avoid them if at all possible and travel to the bigger branches, it really gets at me the way they can charge more in one store than in another, they just profit from those, like the elderly, or people with mobility issues who would find travel difficult.
  2. I never knew they made buses for a particular city, is someone winding you up?
  3. could be the volume knob is full of dirt, may need a clean if you can get into it
  4. ok here is a question to the clever sods on here, that seem to think its ok to slag of the people on benefit? i lived in a 1 bed property, was pretty dire. cost YOUR housing benefit £350 pm i get offered a better place, 2 bed, so my lovely buttered buns can come and stay in comfort. cost to YOUR housing benefit £350 which as a tennant would you choose. I now have a potential bill of approx £14 per week because my kids only stop at weekends, money that would possibly buy them a couple of t-shirts, maybe a kids meal at a eating house. I also know, from experience, when this tax is introduced in april, nothing on my part will change. i will go to howden house and try and sort out a payment plan , only to be faced with a security guard who will make a courtest mobile call to somebody upstairs, to tell me its all in hand.i will then, months later get deductions because of arrears. you rich, patronising idiots really cheese me off.
  5. denomis is pretty much on track here. quite simply the seller is new to ebay / paypal and paypal need the seller to provide more info regarding their id and bank details. its a little bit random, i had to do it after selling about 12 items, though i did sell them in quick succession. like you have done, tell seller you have paid let them deal with paypal.
  6. Thanks all for your help, got a piece for a fiver from B&Q. lol. must have fell lucky today, cut down to 84cm for free. Bloody end cap cost me £7.95 !! Thanks again
  7. Hi, would anyone suggest the best place to buy a worktop off cut. I need a piece 84cm long. Tried b&q but no joy there. Thanks
  8. This is quite bizzare, as to qualify for jsa who have to sign on before getting any payment, where as if you get esa, you qualify for automatic payment as long as you meet certain criteria. Also if you were deemed fit for work last year then your esa should have stopped and you should have been offered the option to appeal, or claim JSA. Either way , i would be very concerned and contact the dwp asap or you may well find yourself in a position to repay benefit.
  9. yes, i realise that, and i think the whole system is wrong. i get phone calls now and again "regarding your recent accident etc"... i have not had one. False claims affect us all, but the govt DONT fix insurance prices, but the do recieve a "commision" on every policy sold, so a little pressure to keep premiums as high as possible is in their interests. I am not looking for a arguement, but am getting increasingly cheesed of with my insurance rising, despite full no claims and no significant change in circumstaces
  10. your link was a general thread on insurance cost, i was asking a specific question regarding the insurance tax, but thanks for your moderation, im sure many a registered forum helper or moderator on the site could have done that for you.
  11. As every insurance policy now has a govt tax applied to it, and with ever increasing car tax premiums, mine has never gone down in years, without claim/conviction etc. I am the only one who think the government might apply pressure to the insurance companies to keep premiums high so more tax is generated. I realise claims companies etc are reaping from accidents which increase all our costs, but has anyone had any major increase from what they consider a very minor change in their detials.
  12. Yes it is deducted out of housing benefit, and now, quite rightly, the maximum benefit you can recieve is the cost of your rent. So therefore if i was to be deducted say the proposed average of £14 per week because i have one spare room (read on national housing website) then i have to find approx £56 per month out of any other income to make up my rent. So I and anyone else who is "taxed" is paying it. God knows how for example single mother would cope having to dip into child benefit to make up their rent. The link below has some very useful information regarding this bedroom tax http://www.housing.org.uk/policy/welfare_reform/%E2%80%98under-occupation%E2%80%99_penalty.aspx
  13. I guess i will have to grin and bear it then. I recently moved into a 2bed for purpose of having a decent place for my 2 boys to stay, many other benefits like i now have WINDOWS that i can actually look out of !! , i never thought about this proposed tax. One thought though....If this becomes valid in April, i doubt they have a system in place where everyone who is eligible to pay the tax does so straight away, so i imagine that many will initially build up arrears until the are assessed / processed. Even more debt for the hard up.
  14. How will this new tax affect seperated parents who have a spare bedroom for when their children stay at weekends and school holidays etc?
  15. Hi, im sure they have done this before, but my problem is that i did not realise that any appeal has to be made within 14 days, and not the 28 day payment period. So i guess i am now stuffed and have to pay the full £70. Its my fault i know, i should have dealt with it, but what really cheeses me off is a car is parked in a bay, a public / permit bay with a tax disc that expired 31 december and nothing is done.
  16. Hi, my first post on Sf after moving to sharrow . I recently got done on club garden rd. There used to be some "exempt" places at the bottom of the rd by the phone box, then the council painted a single yellow line by the area and started slapping tickets on all cars that were parked there. There were no previous warning notices of a change coming about, and i assumed a single yellow line was "no parking in rush hour" etc. I got done at 11.05 on a saturday morning. It may be my ignorance on the laws etc, but i did genuinely assume i was ok at that time on a saturday. Anyway, i got 28 days to pay, and if i pay within 14 days its reduced to £35. SO... a heads up to anyone thinking of contesting a ticket...Although you have 28 days to pay, if you wish to appeal, you must do so within the 14 days. I didnt, i did not research, or read my ticket properly and was about to appeal at the last moment, day 26...I cant. Simple. I am sure i am not the only one to make this error, so if you genuinely think you have grounds to appeal, do so straight away..
