  4. Hi There is already a Sheffield Club for the Hard of Hearing which is a social meeting place. My parents have been involved for many years, as my mum has had hearing loss since her 20's. It's current membership is small and mainly older people but that is through circumstance not design. They meet on Monday nights from 6.15 at 105 Grange Crescent, S11 8AZ, which you can get to by car or No 4 Bus (there are other buses but I can't remember the numbers!). They meet for a chat then usually have an activity or Speaker. All members are asked for ideas towards the programme so the club alters dependant on its membership. Their website is http://www.HardofHearingClubSheffield.btck.co.uk, Email JohnVWShef@sky.com or call my Dad, John on 07860 735 360. Hope this helps

  6. Thank you for some of the comments, I only included I was first aid qualified as I know some people would question whether I should I should have given first aid. My qualification was done due to youth work I am involved with & not through work and by a first aid training company. There is a law called "Samaritans Law" which means you can not be sued as long as you act in the best interest of the patient & to the best of your knowledge (even if you have no first aid knowledge).
  7. I was in second car back and gave first aid (yes, i am qualified). Bloke was hit by Taxi at around 21:30. The bloke wasn't drunk before anyone asks. Had report from hospital before I left the scene that he had no major injuries.
  8. Stupid question but where? I looked but when I clicked opening times all I got was info about a closure in June! Lenny
  9. Does anyone know the opening times of the Hutcliffe Wood Garden of Remembrance on a Saturday and Sunday? Thanks
  10. Sainsbury s archer lane has wheelchair you can borrow, either call them from the underneath car park and they will bring one down to you or pop up to the info desk and they will give it to you to bring down. Hope this helps
  11. Hi Bespoke Blinds have had to close their hillsborogh shop but still have one at hutcliffe woods s8. They did me my whole house 5 years ago and are in the midst of doing all my new house. They come out with all the stuff if you can't get to the shop. Both Maxine and Neil are really nice as well, which always helps! Lenny
  12. The road signs are the same as before the road works, it just wasn't painted on the road. As for lorries, ALL LORRIES should be forced to use A61 Meadowhead then Abbey Lane at all times of day. Greenhill Avenue is a C Class Road and NOT constructed to take lorries where as Meadowhead & Abbey are A class roads so can cope with the weight of lorries.
  13. Ooops! Sorry for typo in previous - Company is Alcontrol Laboratories
  14. I would suggest Alcontol Labs in Rotherham. We use these at work for testing water for Haemodialysis. They can do a full metal analysis including Chlorine/Chloramines etc. Hope this helps.
  15. For your information, 11th Sheffield has closed but 59th Sheffield still exists. There is also a company at Banner Cross (8th Sheffield - / Steve (BB Officer - 8th) ---------- Post added 29-11-2012 at 20:40 ---------- http://www.bb8thsheffield.btck.co.uk/ Tried hyperlink again !
  16. Bespoke Blinds on Hutcliffe Wood Road will come and measure, then fit the blinds for you. Hutcliffe Wood Road 0114 236 3100 or Middlewood 0114 2853846
  17. Pizza Hut Restaurants and Dominoes Pizzas do gluten free pizzas. Both companies have worked with Coeliac UK and have their approval.
  18. A Puffin Crossing is where the green man is on the same box as the button. A Pelician Crossing is where the green man is on the opposite side on the road.A Toucan Crossing is where as well as the crossing function it also acts as a set of traffic lights(eg Two functions).
  19. I am currently running a 24hour Game-a-thon with 15 11-17 years olds boys, till 7pm tomorrow. Therefore I am keeping them off the streets whilst they raise money for their sponsored child in Africa. I class that as making a difference. By the way it is a Boys Brigade event.
  20. I don't live in the "village" i refer to it as others do.
  21. They should have checked what Class of road they lived on before they spent all that money if it was an issue!
  22. To give a little bit of background knowledge from a residents position: The campaign to get the HUGE lorries stopped was nothing to do with any councillors - it was a community action group set up by 1 resident of Bocking Lane and 1 of Greenhill Ave. They went to EVERY house on both roads any got residents who felt action was necessary to sign the petition. I am not one of the action group but it must have taken them hours - it has then taken over 3 years of attending council meeting etc to get the changes. To answer some issues raised from my perspective: The main problem lorries are NOT lorries from the shops: they are HUGE aggregate lorries from Stoney Middleton. These travelled up and down the road extremely fast and on one day I counted 11 in 40 mintues when waiting for a bus. They also travelled at unearthly hours in the morning (eg 4 am)returning to Stoney Middleton well in excess of the speed limits (I know the action group actually measured this). The issue of lorries being sent up into the village (up bocking lane)- If you actually follow the signs you will see that the lorries are sent in a circle back to Meadowhead roundabout - The idea I believe is that once a lorry driver has been sent this route (which would mean they had ignored the signs anyway!) they will never do this again, as who wants to drive in circles! There will of course be increased lorries being daft initially but I don't think there will be many lorries through the village after the next few weeks. Greenhill Ave/Bocking Lane is a Class C road which means the infrastructure (eg Drains/tarmac etc) has not been designed for lorries. They should go down Meadowhead and turn left at Abbey Lane - Large lorries were never a problem until Sat Nav came into being and did not know what Class roads were and sent the lorries up Bocking Lane. I am NOT involved with the council and I DO NOT think that all planning decisions make sense BUT I feel it is important to know the background about things before ranting on a personal note about people.
