Leesaa   10 #53 Posted March 26, 2007 Yes.. for my sins I also went to Bradfield School. I remember Mr Milner being very proud of having his classroom in the 'new ROSLA block'. ROSLA standing for raising of school leaving age.
 Share this content via...
Darkoak   10 #54 Posted March 26, 2007 I was at Bradfield 1975-79.  Mr Milner was (and undoubtedly still is) a top bloke and solely responsible for my History 'O' Level. One of only three I'm ashamed to say.  Other teachers I remember?  Kinder (blonde, fuzzy-haired. Games - especially Cricket) Wordsworth (tall, always wore orange tracksuit. Games) May (diminuative. Geography). Best (bearded. History) Rogers (aka 'Ginner'. Science) Luff (Ex-RAF. Maths. RIP) Clotworthy (Irish. Lovely bloke, but a mean temper. Science. RIP) Rossiter (Full beard. Big ties and flared trou. Maths) Frost (Woodwork. aka 'Tweek' - god forbid if you called him that!) Rangecroft (Dark haired lady. Subject...err. Clearly, didn't pay much attention! Holmes (Science. Hearththrob....or at least Christine Miesczkak thought! Still there I believe) Walton (Geography, I think) Montgomery (Ginger-haired, bespectacled English teacher) Barnaby (Mad as a box of frogs!...... oops, sorry, very enthusiastic German teacher) Allen (Art. Looked like Christopher Lee aka 'Dracula') Millns (rather straight-laced French teacher)  Can anyone remember anymore??
 Share this content via...
Leesaa   10 #55 Posted March 27, 2007 I remember Mr Gelder (redleg) who taught maths Mr Wardle - science (a hit with the sixth formers) Mr Lamb - broken arm that hadn't mended correctly Mrs Moffat - english Miss Rook - Home Economics Mr Bancroft - nylon shirts in pastel colours
 Share this content via...
Darkoak   10 #56 Posted March 27, 2007 I remember Mr Gelder (redleg) who taught maths Mr Wardle - science (a hit with the sixth formers) Mr Lamb - broken arm that hadn't mended correctly Mrs Moffat - english Miss Rook - Home Economics Mr Bancroft - nylon shirts in pastel colours  OMG Redleg!! Forgot about him! Who thought of that name?  Mrs Moffatt - Bit dumpy and grey haired IIRC (says Jude Law!!)  'Yogi' Bancroft can still be seen wandering up and down Haggstones Rd:loopy:  Wasn't the teacher with the dodgy arm Mr Clotworthy??  Miss Rook? Would have preferred making buns than getting a bollocking off Tweak in Metalwork!!  When were you there Leesaa?
 Share this content via...
Betty1 Â Â 10 #57 Posted March 28, 2007 Mrs. Gilbert and Mrs. Winder - home economics and needlework - 2 of the most sarcastic and evil women I have ever had the misfortune to have been taught by ! Mr. Rodgers -(Ginner ) - taught Physics, drove a Renault and went very red when he was angry ! Mr. Lambourne - Biology - gave me the creeps Mr. Warby ( the Jew ) - taught Maths (allegedly ) and was very tight fisted Mrs. Shaw - PE - sent us all on a cross country run when it was lashing it down and she wanted to keep warm and dry Mr. Clotworthy - taught Chemistry - he WAS the one with the dodgy arm Mrs. Barnaby - German and French - she was really sweet but couldn't control the class. I remember one incident when someone in an upstairs classroom had a bra ( I think ) tied on a piece of string and let in down so it was blowing about outside her classroom window ! If memory serves me correct she totally ignored it despite the entire class being in hysterics ! Mr. Bertram - English Language and Lit - very serious and strict - no messing about in his class ! Would have preferred making buns than getting a bollocking off Tweak in Metalwork!!  When were you there Leesaa?   I was there from 1975 to 1979 I was in Mrs Ballantynes form IB. I can also remember Chaz Smith the drama teacher who was ace, Mr Minter who taught maths and went skating with us to silver blades on a friday night, Andy Stott who taught English. I don't know where I got the name Mr Lamb from??  Every school disco was a fundraiser for a swimming pool, which got sacked off when the money was eventually spent on disco lights!!! anniedragon   10 #60 Posted April 10, 2007 I was at Bradfield School from 1969 to 1973 ! Some of the teaches listed were there when I was. My first 'form teacher' was Mrs Gott who I think taught English. She left soon after. Mr Bertram taught English to me all the 5 years I was there. Very Strict, no messing and had a love of Shakespear. I remember doing Macbeth for GCE English Literature, with him. (Yak) Mr Luff and Mr Warby: Maths ( Ian Warby also taught my 2 children who have also been and left Bradfield.) Mrs Gilbert: Domestic Science Miss Sorsby: Needlework & Domestic Science Mr Bancroft: RE Miss Timmins: PE Mr Frost: Woodwork Mr Rodgers: Physics Cant remember Chemistry teachers name. Mr Rutherford: Geography Mr May: History Miss Darby: French(She married Bill Wordsworth Boys PE teacher) 'The Infamous' Mr Riley : Italian. Was there anyone that did not sucumb to the rath of Riley!!!! Miss Oram: English (Deputy Head I think?) Mr Brammeld: Head Teacher Whilst I was there the Year 5 common room was built, us being nearly the first 5th formers to use it. although I hated school and could not wait to leave it is quite fun remembering all the old teachers and people who were at school with you.
