Not at all. Pubs are for adults to enjoy an alcohol drink. If you have kids, take them to a soft play centre.

Soft play Centres should be for the  mindless idiots who cause trouble in pubs.

It's a shame that SCC / The Moor Market didn't have the foresight to include a bar area within the market as they have done in Barnsley's Glass Works.

Barnsley's Glass Works is a few notches above the Moor Market in many ways.

The Moor isn't a very long road & there's plenty of pubs nearby

Really, do you expect every 4th building to be a pub?!

Wait a minute. let's be very clear here. 'The Glass Works' as whole is a large multi-building shopping and leisure complex. Barnsley Market just one small part of that.

Applying the same logic, it can be argued at the redevelopments to The Moor also include bars and restaurants and leisure as is shown with places like Lane 7, The Light, Roxy ballroom and Boom Battle Bar. That's before we look at the mass development a few steps away around Cambridge Street and Pinstone Street.

Let's not go off into the realms of fantasy.

Barnsley town centre is superior to Sheffield City Centre in many ways.

I wouldn't be surprised if a mainstream bar pops up in the next year or so on there. Your qualification is in law, mine is in business. A lot of these "sophisticated bars" fail in the first year, such as the gin bar that opened on Broomhill. The Museum always attracts a crowd though.

What qualification do you have in business?

I think it would be a good idea to have a couple of pubs on the moor.  Improve the night time economy in the area. Link a pub crawl up to London road and town etc

don’t get all opposition

(A) Where would you put them? (B) As stated above, there are plenty of pubs/clubs in  the city centre.

A) suppose a potential retailer would have to look for an existing vacant unit or wait for one to come available.

B) so what?
