Switching An Ipad Off.

Settings' the grey 'wheel' style icon...'General'...Scroll down to the very bottom in blue will be written 'Shut down'. To power back up press the home button for a couple of seconds until it powers up.

@pattriciais not asking how to power down the iPad, but if she should, and has already accepted the recommendation not to bother.
