The Labour Party could do a lot worse then choose Ed Balls as a candidate in the Wakefield by election.

Very true let’s hope we win and plenty more to go with it we really need a change ,

Why? What they offering?

they will try and get us out off this mess ,and if they did manage it ,the press and the bbc would still slag them of. And then voters would believe it all , back to square one . And mr gove , I hope this is a bad dream , for my money jeramywas our best bet , but stitched up like a kipper,. Tony Blair fell for it  we then got brown who called some lady a bigot , and I  think that was his lot , then clegg , he fell for it ,and we got George Osborn and Cameron,

Just an old school working man

Reading today that Starmer has said that Corbyn is unlikely to regain the whip following Corbyn's criticism of NATO & the fact such organisations should be disbanded as they are an actual threat to peace rather than protecting it.

Corbyn's been unable to sit as a Labour MP since the whip was originally withdrawn from him in 2020.  Makes you wonder how his constituents go on getting anything done when in affect they have an independent MP?

There have been quite a few independent MPs over the years, Martin Bell being a good example. I think his constituents were able to contact him.

Yes but his constituents voted in Bell in the full knowledge that they were voting for an Independent.  Corbyn's supporters voted in a Labour MP / leader of the Labour Party who now appears to have the clout of absolutely diddly-squat.

By Starmer's Labour refusing Corbyn the whip, Corbyn has effectively, in modern parlance, been cancelled.

I'm not sure that's so much of a problem.

There are currently MPs from parties other than the Conservative Party, who are well able to represent their constituents.

Unless I'm missing something?

Corbyn's constituents are getting a much better deal than the citizens of Wakefield.

They voted in a Tory and ended up with a sexual predator.

Well presumably Imran Khan's days are numbered (and that can be discussed on the Tory Party thread) in the meantime let's get back to Starmer effectively cancelling out Corbyn by keeping the whip from him.

Corbin was stitched up by bbc and press and some off his own party ,read his manifesto . All they talk about is nato and anti semitimm , .  And  what about Angela Rainer what she said and told to retract it was very true , will the one who accused her step up , I don,t think so they will take a note from their leader

Starmer isn't cancelling Corbyn - he can still do his job as an MP.

Whilst a visitor to this forum might think that you're standing up for Corbyn, I suspect he's a useful stick for you to beat Starmer with.

All party leaders have the option of removing the whip from their MPs. This is no different.

I wouldn't worry too much about his constituents, he's the MP for Islington, and in popular parlance of the right wing gutter press they're all middle class, muesli eating champagne socialists

Well no, let's discuss the two things side by side, where they belong.

Corbyn is still an MP.  He still has access to a wide range of resources to represent his constituents. He can still vote with Labour if he wishes. Removing the whip makes little difference to Corbyn's ability to represent his constituents.

Khan has been expelled from the Tory party. Just like Corbyn, he can represent his constituents and vote with the Tories if he wishes. He has said he will resign his seat, but hasn't done so.

I know which one I would prefer as my MP.

The press will stoop to any thing so will the conservatives, Angela Rayner as had to be put through that disgusting rubbish . And some idiots say she was doing it on purpose . If this is the people who run this country then please change governments I have lived through a lot but nothing like this, all for gain .
