The last thing we need on the pavements are those e-scooters.  Its bad enough and dangerous enough already by leheretting the cyclists on the footpaths

There wont be any if you tell them they have to pay  tax and insurance

Really ask your kids bit advanced

My kids know how to string a sentence together. As do I.

I'm happy to pay as much "road tax" as you want, for my zero-emission bicycle. If I had an electric scooter, more than happy to do the same.

They look good fun on the wide promenade on sea fronts.

People will always push boundaries so speed limits will have to be engineered in to walking speed 4-5mph

Just like cars I suppose, they go faster than the speed limits

From scooterdirect: "Owning an electric scooter is not against the law. However, it is illegal to ride an electric scooter on the public highway, i.e. publicly owned roads and pavements".

When they bring new laws in including cars / scooters/ bikes  none of them will be zero rated the  days of cheap motoring  [ go get a 2nd hand motor like a fiesta ] will have gone for good.

  • 4 months later...

From this Saturday, (everything seems to be happening this Saturday), 4th July, RENTAL e-scooters are expected to become legal on UK roads.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-53219331

Note, that the rules by which e-scooter for hire companies & rider should abide, will be set out LATER by the Govt.  Wouldn't it be better to have the rules, regulations & legislation in place FIRST?

So they are only to be riden on the the roads then?  Hmm?

Expect to be dodging them on Fargate & The Moor in the near future then?
