Cyclone 10 #301 Posted June 26, 2019 The purpose of the crown estate was to remove from the ownership of the monarch, all those properties that belong to the crown and not the monarch. And since we are a titular monarchy, the crown IS the state. But since we are also a functional democracy, the state is ruled by parliament on behalf of the crown. QED the crown estate belongs to the state.
 Share this content via...

RollingJ 2,042 #307 Posted July 6, 2019 And when it doesn't - they don't have to be! Not exactly a 'reasoned' argument for a reply, but I'll let it go as I didn't really expect one. You also forget that, like a lot of things, times change, and the younger members of the Royal family appreciate this, and don't want to force themselves and their private lives down our throat. 4 minutes ago, PRESLEY said: A little Brass off us. 😁😞 ?? nikki-red 308 #308 Posted July 6, 2019 (edited) They cant win tho can they? A big televised affair and theyd be slated. A small private affair and theyd be slated. As for 'a little brass off us', it was 69p per taxpayer for the year 2017-2018. Edited July 6, 2019 by nikki-red
 Share this content via...

Yes theyve got tons on money and a lovely house, but they cant get up in the morning and think 'what a lovely day, lets take the kids to the park/swimming/play centre etc etc'. As youve demonstrated in your posts, every single thing they do is scrutinized. Kate wears a new dress its in the news, Kate wears the same dress twice its in the news. Money, lots. Freedom, absolutely none. Edited July 6, 2019 by nikki-red
 Share this content via...

I know what you mean about cant win but They could have comprimised for the public to day slightly. They could have ridden in an open carriage down Castle hill to St Georges Chapel having then closed the chapel doors for a private Christening. A lot of people travel across the world to get a glimps at the Royals that little glimps of Archie would have made a lot of International visitors very happy.
