At present work is been carried out on the Matilda Tavern . Their was a planning notice tired to a pole and was surprised to see that it will reopen as public house I was expecting to read it been turned into the old favourite apartments? Anyone heard anymore like will it be a real ale house ?

That whole block is being worked on at the moment. I did wonder if the tavern would be dropped, but good that it is staying, and even better if as a pub.

Can someone refresh my memory and remind me where Matilda Street is? Thanks

This is taken from Shoreham Street (near Leadmill area) and right at the top of the road is the Moor

Yes, I remember it looking like that. Hopefully it will do well.

Spent lots of time in Matilda when i worked around corner on shoreham street in 60s.

I've never been in, despite my hope for it's saviour :hihi:

That whole area is meant to be a Conservation Area isn't it?

Hard to tell since it's unrecognisable from 15 years ago.

I don't know Nagel if I agree with it being unrecognisable. Lots of old buildings have been done up around there, and really well.
