D' Michael's Bar - What is the problem?

Does anyone know what is the problem with the bar on Ecclesall Road that is seemingly always empty? I believe it's either called D'Michael's or St Michael's and I have only ever seen one customer in there, even when the other bars are full. Is there a problem with rude staff or did a violent crime occur hear once or something? I know that bars in other places like the Niche Bar had a bad reputation with knife assaults and so custom buckled.

I went in several months ago and to me, it seemed really confused. Served good cocktails but the room was basically dark with blue neon lighting and really loud music - like a tiny nightclub. It put me off going back, and I'm sure im not the only one!

It's not d'michaels anymore - went past the other day and it's all been rebranded - can't remember new name.

Looks a lot better from outside

You seem to be telling as opposed to asking. I have been in about 5 times on a Saturday and it was always packed out. The music good and beer is relatively cheap for that end of town. Maybe people are dragged to the over priced and over rated bars that surround it.

Excuse me, I was quite clearly asking a question. The clue is with the three question marks in my original post. :hihi: I don't see how the surrounding bars are overpriced...most of the bars on Ecclesall Road do a pint of lager for around £4.85 and the only one I can say is overrated is The Porter as it has a very rude landlord and there is always lots of chavvy riff raff outside...(probably making a pint last them all evening).

I believe it's going to be Red's True BBQ, there's one in Leeds, Manchester etc

OhNo I'm wrong again!! I do apologise, D'Michaels is the Monk Bar, Café Rouge is Red's True BBQ...much apologies

Reds True BBQ are moving into the old Café Rouge premises, unless I am mistaken Reds True BBQ is another arm of the Mitchel and Butler empire, see the Fox House thread.

No worrying about getting knifed now, its not been D'michaels since December. New owners, full refit, different target market, new staff and brilliant cocktails. Can I ask what a "Niche bar" is?
