-xsf
Woodseats is great, plenty of shops and places to eat and close to nice green space. It seems a bit cheaper than S6 too. Personally I don't like Walkley, it feels a bit lifeless to me but Hillsborough has a bit more going on.
Ms Macbeth
Depends too on travel needs. Our daughter lived until recently in Lower Walkley, ideal for travel to both hospitals, university etc. Her terrace house was bought by a university lecturer. Similarly, further up in Hillsborough there is a real mix of housing including large and small terraces, and again, great transport links. It also depends too on whether schools are an issue, as the standards do vary across S6 and S10. Edited October 5, 2015 by Ms Macbeth

Victoria1867
Hillsborough has more and more young professionals now. Good school, decent pubs too. You can pick up a nice 3 bed terrace with a loft for c£120k
Solitaire
I live in Heeley and absolutely love it; have lived here for 23 years and had no problems: none whatsoever. It's Meersbrook's slightly less fashionable friend - you'll have an S2, rather than an S8, postcode. If you can get over that - and trust me, you really can - the good news is that the house prices in Heeley are a good bit cheaper than those in Meersbrook. You could pick up a three bedroomed terrace on my street for around £130k, maybe a bit less depending on condition. It's just a short walk onto London Road and only 20 minutes or so walk into town - depending on how fit you are I walk everywhere: no need to pick up a cab after a night out or when going to and from the station. It's fab. Add it to your 'possibles' list. S x

JackK0
It really depends on your budget but I would recommend Carterknowle area and the houses just off abbeydale road like on plymouth , falmouth , rydal rd theres too many round that area to mention all but all very close to each other if you looked on the map you'd see where I mean
