crookedspire
Sex sales Madonna built a music career on it. My concern with porn is the lack of safe sex it gives the impression that AIDS and HIV and STI's have gone away which I hasn't and is in fact on the rise. RonJeremy
Porn still seems quite popular, despite the puritans and the po-faced telling us it is wrong.

monkey104
Problem with porn is it's like slave labour. If you abolish it what are folks in the industry going to do for a living?

You don't have to be puritan or po-faced to understand that porn can have detrimental effects on individuals or society, especially if it's introduced at an early stage in development...which it is, profusely. Maybe you but certainly I understand the difference between reality and fantasy..an 11yr old may have difficulty. Then again some adults may have a problem also, to the point of addiction. bowie1867
Porns fantastic they should sell it on dvd on the top shelf in newsagents though it should be covered up The girls love doing it the boys love doing it people buy it its a multi million pound trade so its a win win Freedom of expression to those who want to see it i love it long may it continue to flourish

This is the problem. I agree entirely with you about children. I have young impressionable children and I have to tell them that porn is not real life. It is not what real women are like and not what real women want. I liken it to violent movies where the hero gets shot multiple times but still carries on running. It's not real. It's entertainment. ---------- Post added 24-02-2015 at 07:57 ---------- So's cancer. Not in my experience. The people who are/were close to me who have had cancer didn't really like it much. I'm sorry I have no statistics for this. Nor can I provide proof or a link. It is only my experience. ---------- Post added 24-02-2015 at 08:01 ---------- Problem with porn is it's like slave labour. TimmyR
Porn is ok if all people involved in its production are consenting adults, treated with respect and remunerated equally. However, I think it's likely that isn't the case a lot of the time. I've just watched the film "Lovelace" about the star of the 70s film Deep Throat - its good intro into how porn is produced (not as described above). She was raped and beaten. The film grossed millions of dollars and she received about 1200. Even if all people are treated equally etc the way women are portrayed in porn is not good. They are usually submissive, the men usually dominant. Not to mention the fact that men who watch too much get genital size complexes because they think men's bits in porn are representative of the statistical average... TimmyR
How is it like slave labour? Do you really think all those women have agreed to star in the films and are paid an equal share? If you do, you are deluded. I can imagine vulnerable women are forced into participating in these films through fear or desperation and paid very little to have their dignity removed. As I said before if everyone is paid equally, is a consenting adult and treated with respect then its ok but how often is that the case? Are there any porn directors on this site available for comment? ---------- Post added 24-02-2015 at 08:34 ---------- Problem with porn is it's like slave labour. If you abolish it what are folks in the industry going to do for a living? My comment on this point is if its slave labour then abolishing porn will enable the slaves to go and make a living. (of course abolishing porn would be a challenge) Edited February 24, 2015 by TimmyR
