Had the same problem living in Sheffield 37 years, eating Yorkie Puds, scraggy Whippets and Hendersons on everything.

GLASGOWOODS
I thought it was just me. It happens when cleaning my upper back teeth:gag: Same here! I do find breathing in and out rapidly helps a little when brushing the back teeth and tongue. Oh, my missus has the same problem.
tzijlstra
It is very annoying, I have it too. I always wonder if it is to do with one of my first memories: having my tonsils out.
Bonzo77
When I reach my very back teeth I get the reflex sometimes. I hate it. Scrubbing your tongue........not a chance in hell
PeteMorris
Just out of interest. Are those who are sensitive to it using a manual of an electric toothbrush? It never happens to me (I use electric)....I have vague recollections of it happening to me many years ago, but that was a one off, when I kinda slipped (with a manual brush) and almost shoved it down my throat..that made the ol' gag reflex work! PeteMorris
manual, it is more satisfying! But sadly not nearly as efficient, unless you spend a lot more time doing it. One of the reasons I use electric, is because it's a lot more leisurely. None of that jerking your hand back and forth, and of course not having to make sudden movements, it's a lot more accurate.
