anywebsite   10 #14 Posted September 7, 2014 More politicians! What a great idea. Not sure why you think local politicians are better than national politicians, look at SCC, or the SNP.
 Share this content via...
JFKvsNixon   11 #15 Posted September 7, 2014 People are sick of being lorded over by governments miles away. If we were ruled by governments in our own town and city centre, and our taxes went, not to the other end of the country, or the other side of the world, but to projects on our own street, or the next street along, there would be far less resentment of government and far more harmony IMO.  So are you a big supporter of our local councils, and do you believe that they should be given more power? Happ Hazzard   10 #16 Posted September 7, 2014 So are you a big supporter of our local councils, and do you believe that they should be given more power? I think they should face frequent re-elections and be accountable for their actions! And their schemes should be paid for by the people of South Yorkshire and not by some abstract national government pot of money. Bonzo77 Â Â 13 #18 Posted September 7, 2014 Sudan split up recently, as did Serbia and Montenegro. Scotland is about to go independent. It can only be a good thing. Smaller countres are more democratically representitive with more accountable governments. Â I actually agree with Happ Hazzard?!? Amazing! ptrA Â Â 10 #22 Posted September 8, 2014 Splitting countries, seems to be the recipe for conflict, which is what we had before the United kingdom. United we stand divided we fall
 Share this content via...
LeMaquis   10 #23 Posted September 8, 2014 Yet Scotland.who want independence, also want to be in the EU..how do you square that circle?  Because they're canny enough to realise that they can be in charge of their own affairs and benefit from being in the EU. They're not like the ignorant dunces on here who think that EU membership is only about being fleeced and being dictated to by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels. etc.
 Share this content via...
alchresearch   215 #24 Posted September 8, 2014 Countries are seperating all the time. Look at Czechoslovakia  The BBC documentary about Scotland on TV a week or two ago said that they're still arguing about things 20 years on.
