Hi guys,

Hope you're as excited as we are about the festival this year. We think it will be our best ever.

Thanks to Andy C and others for presenting our info on here.

We just wanted to let everyone know that Weekend Tickets are looking likely to sell out within a week. After this point, only Saturday day tickets will be available.

Please get your weekend wristband now to avoid disappointment!

What about compansation for the people that live around there. There are a couple of tenants who work nights and will have to put up with this. I myself will be working so I don't have to watch the drunken idiots urinating at the side of the flats as usual.

They are offering Local Resident tickets for those living around Ponderosa.

If the pubs/bars/clubs put as much effort into the other 40 odd weeks of the year then sheffield would be a great place for a night out again.

But all their doing is trying to make quick cash

I think that comment is unfair, there are things going on in Sheffield venues all year round, however in the summer holidays town is dead - the students have gone home and the locals are either on their summer holidays or simply aren't coming out and supporting pubs, bars etc anymore.

When Tramlines first started out it's purpose was to attract people into town on an otherwise quiet summers weekend and breathe a little bit of life back into Sheffield, these things always work better from a marketing point of view if the various venues work together and make a bigger more attractive event rather than each doing their own little thing.

The majority of the ordinary pubs taking part in the Tramlines fringe are putting bands on yet offering free entry - so increased profits on drinks sales is how they are funding the bands. Meanwhile those venues that you need to buy a wristband to get in are putting on higher calibre acts.

Official press release regarding the Peace Gardens stage, Fargate and Barkers Pool (all free entry)

Tramlines is pleased to announce the return of many of the much-loved free, community aspects of the festival.

From world music on the Peace Gardens through to street theatre on Barker’s Pool, there’s plenty of top-quality entertainment going on in the city centre to keep festival-goers entertained between the great acts on the main stages.

The International Peace Gardens with Smoke Barbecue is once again the centre point of the community festival, with fantastic international, national and Steel City acts curated by Musical Works. On Saturday, Papa Al has programmed a high-energy line-up with a strong global influence, from soul and rumba through to afrobeat and funk. Highlights include Congolese party-starter Gordon Masiala and perennial Sheffield favourites Jungle Lion serving up riotous ska. Sunday, meanwhile, will serve as a celebration of youth and community talent, presented by Musical Works and Under the Stars. With the finale of the Dope’n’Mean breakdance competition featuring dancers from Sheffield and beyond and performances by the Stars Band, it’s set to provide a great snapshot of the diversity and quality of Sheffield's emerging musicians. The International Peace Gardens will be replete with some of Sheffield’s favourite food traders, including Smoke Barbecue, who are bringing a bucking bronco alongside delicious ribs!

Beyond the International Peace Gardens, brilliant street theatre - supported by the National Fairground Archive – returns to Barker’s Pool. The street theatre programme includes old favourites and new acts sure to delight and entertain all ages. Likewise, the fairground returns to Fargate along with a stage and bar for great music right in the centre of the city.

The much-loved, free, family-friendly side of the festival is possible thanks to Tramlines, Sheffield City Council and generous sponsors such as Smoke Barbecue. In order to secure the future of the community festival, Tramlines plans to establish a charitable arm, the Tramlines Foundation. Keep your ear out for more on this after the festival.

Official press release and added info - Tramlines Transport

Tramlines has teamed up with ‘Not Driving’ (a sustainable transport campaign), Supertram and Northern Rail to encourage people to ditch their cars and make use of Sheffield’s public transport network over the festival weekend. The main site at Ponderosa Park does not have a parking facility so it’s essential that people are aware of the alternatives.

During the festival weekend, Sheffield becomes one huge festival site and transport is vital to the smooth running of the event. The best way to travel to Sheffield from other cities and towns is via the train network. Sheffield is easily accessible from all the major cities and you can book your tickets via the Northern Rail widget on the Tramlines site - http://www.tramlines.org.uk/getting-here/

After arriving at Sheffield Train Station, the quickest route to the main stage and almost all of the Tramlines venues is to jump onto the Supertram at the Sheffield Station stop (adjacent to the train platforms).

To help sustain the unique atmosphere over the weekend, the Supertram network will become awash with the sound of music as live bands take to the rails to deliver unique, free performances to commuters around Sheffield during the Tramlines. This is the first time that the Supertram network has featured live music and is a fantastic way to celebrate their 21st anniversary. Anyone who has experienced the famous Busker’s Buses in previous years will know exactly what to expect.

Supertram are selling a special £3 ticket that will allow a complete day of travel over the festival part of the tram network during the festival, the normal Stagecoach bus & tram Dayrider will also be available at £3.90. Most of the venues are accessible via the tram so festival attendees can hop on and off in their journey throughout the festival. Tickets will be sold on the trams themselves and from the Tramlines box office at Sheffield City Hall.

Park & Ride facilities are available at Nunnery Square and Middlewood tram stops, a days car parking and tram travel combined costs just £4.50 or a family ticket costs just £6.50. See http://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com for details.

First buses are also running a shuttle to take Wristband holders from the main stage at Ponderosa to The Folk Forest at Endcliffe Park for 50p throughout the festival.

Stagecoach Supertram Managing Director Margaret Kay said: "Tramlines is one of Sheffield's most popular events and we are delighted to be on board as travel partner this year, which also marks the 21st anniversary of the tram network in the city. With tram services serving most of the main music venues throughout the festival, and live music on board, we hope people will use our greener, smarter services to make the most of this fantastic event."

For more info on transport at Tramlines and a chance to win VIP tickets to the event, please visit ‘Getting Here’ on the official site - http://www.tramlines.org.uk/getting-here/. To enter the competition you have to pledge the miles you have saved by Not Driving to Tramlines.

Hi everyone, I stupidly thought it would be possible to get day tickets on the day as this was what I did last year. Now I've heard they're all sold out.

Just wondering if anyone has any spare Friday day tickets for sale? Please let me know if you do as I really want to see Mungo's HiFi at yellow arch studios on Friday night.

Weekend tickets are sold out, Friday and Sunday tickets also sold out, there are still some Saturday tickets left. Buy online at http://www.tramlines.org.uk.

The place to ask for people to sell unwanted tickets seems to be the Tramlines Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Tramlines?fref=ts

Also it sounds like there may be some extra bands buzzing about on the trams in addition to the ones advertised above...
