rossyrooney   12 #1 Posted May 20, 2014 Does anyone have information regarding the rise in African and eastern European people on Gleadless Valley? it seems the rise has been done by a steady influx rather than a mass like Page Hall.  I live by Gleadless Common and the increase folk of other races using it in the last couple of years is phenomenal, plus the shopping centre at Newfield Green seems to be a meeting place for Eastern European people to socialise,  I reckon that this way is far better than just placing loads of immigrants in one place at one time and causing unrest with the locals. SiSiSi   10 #3 Posted May 20, 2014 The residents of Gleadless Valley are in a permanent state of unrest! A few immigrants wouldn't make much difference either way.
 Share this content via...

That's rubbish, the vast majority of people on the Valley are o.k. It's the very small minority that gives it a bad name just like anywhere else. A few immigrants? Have you been on the Valley? Doom   10 #5 Posted May 20, 2014 Was it Gleadless Valley where Tesco refused to deliver because of the problems their drivers had encountered?  Regards  Doom
 Share this content via...
rossyrooney   12 #6 Posted May 20, 2014 Hi Lazarus, I live overlooking the valley so I have no idea of the demographics of the area in itself. As I said earlier I see the families passing to use the Common and my wife has commented several times about the Newfield Green shopping centre, it all seems to have been done quietly without fuss. Closet Guy.   10 #8 Posted May 20, 2014 Was it Gleadless Valley where Tesco refused to deliver because of the problems their drivers had encountered? Regards  Doom  It was the areas mainly occupied by immigrants that made Tescos take the action it did. Tescos would never say this but i know the area well. Also when there was a murder in the flats some times ago. An immigrant killed another immigrant. Its not a popular view i hold but that makes it no less accurate.
 Share this content via...
rossyrooney   12 #9 Posted May 20, 2014 Was it Gleadless Valley where Tesco refused to deliver because of the problems their drivers had encountered? Regards  Doom  It was Doom, after discussions with the authorities and locals they apologised and recommenced deliveries to the area.  B.T.W. it has been reported to have happened in several areas. carosio   186 #11 Posted May 20, 2014 Over the past few years there has been, so I'm told, a severe shortage of social housing in Sheffield and waiting lists extending to years. If the immigrants have arrived relatively recently, how is it they have managed to jump the queue?
 Share this content via...

There weren't many immigrants 10 years ago.
 Share this content via...
