Elizabeth13
Posties should not have to encounter dogs running loose in gardens. You should have a mail box on your gate. Wouldn't necessarily solve the whole issue here. Some people have access through to neighbouring properties where they may only have post boxes/letter boxes at the back of their properties and not the front. In those cases the Postman will still have to go through the garden regardless of the dog owners post.

denlin
He saw the dogs before he opened the gate, why didn't he just close it behind him as he left instead of running off and leaving it open?
fabcakes
He saw the dogs before he opened the gate, why didn't he just close it behind him as he left instead of running off and leaving it open? that's what I couldn't understand I did tell him to hang on but he'd already opened the gate as soon as he saw the dogs he was off the only thing I can think is he was I think Indian or Pakistani ''im not being racist '' I just know that not all of these type of people like dogs I came across quite a few that didn't like fern when she was my guide dog so you get used to the way they go off & had I off known that he was Indian or Pakistani BEFORE he even got to the gate I would of stopped him before he'd opened it but i'm afraid I can't see people & what they look like until they are relay close ( bad eyes ) but the dogs was running round barking at each other so you would of thought he would of heard them unless of course he was deaf but I guess we will never know but im going to do what Elizabeth13 said about being able to lock it from the inside of the gate & when the postie or whoever comes if im out with the dogs there is none of this going off again you don't think about it until it happens do you
Murphy Jnr
EDIT. you don't think about it until it happens do you Some do yes. It was my prime concern along with a fence that prevented little hands being able to get in. Wouldn't want our dogs getting out neither would I want anyones fingers nipped. If people had access through my garden I would fence off an area below the access /right of way pathway so the dogs could run about in a safe area. fabcakes
I do have the bottom bit fenced of next to ware the back door is but like I said while I was on the garden I let them out with me while I was hanging the washing out this is the fence that we have next to the door you can just see it past the dogs & this is the inside of it when i'm not able to keep an eye on them all the time ie walking about doing things they run about in there & can go on the back garden sometimes as well with supervision but that day I just let them out with me so their not always running round the garden all of the time .
