Council Leader on Radio Sheffield

Recommended Posts

I listened 5 minutes and then turned off....She doesn't inspire confidence, does she?

The problem with local politicians is that most of them are willing amateurs.

Over the years at local level I've generally voted Liberal, but as with Julie Dore, I can't say Shaffaq Mohammed particularly inspires me. I always think of a 2nd hand car salesman whenever I hear him on the radio. He talks faster than his brain is processing information and spends most of his time bad mouthing Labour, even when they've done nothing wrong.

I hate the political game of constantly blaming others.

I always vote at election, but with the options on offer, I think I might be playing paper, scissors stone before casting my vote at the next local election. :hihi:

Regards

Doom

Every word you say is true and well done Julie.

But! She came on Radio Sheffield supposedly to answer contributers questions .

She did not. She talked over the callers and the they were conveniently cut off on what must have been some pre arranged system.

Ok - I only heard snippets as I was in and out of the house, but I guess it was not Julie herself operating the mixing desk/phone lines. If she talked over callers, fair complaint, mind you if they're were anything like stoned pen1s on here, maybe she was just trying to translate?

Don't get me wrong - I think democracy in this country is rather a joke, with business wielding far more power than any politician. But some small minded people in Sheffield just seem to lack any sort of understanding and so blame 'the council' as the source of all woes in Sheffield. Their incomprehension is incredulous!

I could probably answer your questions better if you were at least to use some punctuation now and then. However, if you could stop frothing for a moment, I'll try.

Where was I when outsourcing began? Working for the Council, so I saw it at first hand.

As another poster has pointed out, you obviously don't understand how Councils have to plan and deliver their budgets. Do us all a favour and read up on it - it might save you posting nonsense about departmental rollover budgets :

www.sheffield.gov.uk/your-city-council/finance.html

Your last point about "tweaking" expenditure beggars belief. You don't think all departments have been cutting back for years? How on earth would "tweaking" make a difference to massive budget cuts?

But of course, you know a manager in the health care sector, whose offer to tweak a budget was obviously considered to be inappropriate, so you're an expert.

Go away, read the facts, think them over, post something we can read and perhaps you might make a meaningful contribution to this debate.

ah not that old chestnut about spelling and punctuation :hihi: like you say i might not understand how councils have to plan and deliver budgets ( from what i can see neither can they the mess were in :hihi:) and no im not an expert but the manager came up with a plan to save money and was shot down :suspect: and no i wont go away i will keep on posting things as i see fit, if that causes you problems good. you are an ex councillor arnt you :suspect:

Yes, I'm afraid. That old chestnut about spelling and punctuation. It's what make the English language intelligible. Oh, and do try to cut down on the number of emoticons - they could make people think that you don't have the words to express yourself.

And please keep up if you're going to continue posting. It's been common knowledge on the Forum that I was a city councillor some years ago. I used to pick up quite a lot of my casework from here.

At least I have the guts to state it openly.

What do you do?

and there it is!!! i am sure you would defend any councillor no matter what, its like a little amateur club to you isnt it? like playing shop? most have no relevant qualifications to be in charge of a multi million pound budget, Julie Dore for one, i wouldnt leave her in charge of a light switch never mind a council.

I bet that whoever the council leader was they would be drawing the same flack. It`s what these posters get their kicks from-slagging off the council.
