Edge Tools in Family history

Just as a matter of interest, I am currently researching a family who were edge tool makers in Sheffield from the 1560's onwards.

They were recorded as Sissersmiths engaged in forging shear, plough and knife blades.

This term was used as far back as the Middle Ages.

I have put a post on here trying to find out where they lived and worked in Sheffield in the 1700's, in the records it states the area as 'Ead'.

I hope this of interest to you.
