Jeffrey Shaw
No doubt once the consultation period is over the typos on the site will be fixed and the PTE will then have sneeked through what they want. And yes there are several typos there. 'Typos': 'sneeked'. (Sigh)
sheffbag
So basically this new network is going to cost me more to travel now. Doesnt sound a good thing to me Proposed tickets for the new network are: £4.30 for the day £17 for the week <-- I currently pay £13 £63.75 for 28 days £695 for the year. Cheapskate one operator tickets will still be available. Trouble is they will be of less real value unless you use the PTE's best friends - stagecoach who are set to gain massively from this sham. Welcome back BusDriver, still waiting for the facts from page 7 if you can supply them. How particularly are Stagecoach meant to profit from this? The Citywide is dearer than the STG ticket, if you use multi op journeys then get the Citywide (as you would do with a TravelMaster already). If you use Stagecoach only then stay with Stagecoach who will still offer the ticket. So im not sure how Stagecoach are meant to "profit massively" from this. If First wish to keep their operator ticket at a higher price than the proposed Citywdie price then people are naturally going to buy the cheaper option BUT that is First's commercial decision, if you were running a company and allowed someone to travel on your bus paying less than the prices you set then surely you would price match. Dont forget that the price of this ticket has been agreed and set by ALL the operators in the scheme including First Spider pete - I presume loking at how much you pay then you use the Stagecoach weekly ticket which will still be on sale so will be no change to how much you currently pay or travel. Its simple choice Use Stagecoach or First only - Buy the operator ticket - No Change to current Use multi operator but not the Train - Buy a Citywide - Cheaper than a TraveMaster so a saving made Use multi operator and the train - Buy a TravelMaster - No Change to current
F1fan
Correct, 123 will terminate at Endcliffe Student Village with the 83A replacing the 123 on the enhanced loop via Hallam Grange Road, although a difference will be it will also serve Brooklands Avenue to replace the 6. The 83A will be every 20 minutes. http://www.sheffieldbuspartnership.co.uk/routes/83A http://www.sheffieldbuspartnership.co.uk/sheffield/ That's good although I am suprised that the 83A will replace the 6. I am glad that it will be every 20 minutes rather than every hour but it is a bit suprising considering they almost scrapped the service a year ago. silverknight
The idea of the PROPOSED new network is to make better the use of the fleets of the bus operators in the partnership.Overall the number of buses on the road is roughly the same. It will be interesting to see what the final network will look like ( I would guess at 97% of that proposed.
F1fan
This network seems quite good really, a definite improvement over before. It's a shame about the 123 being cut back to Endcliffe which is strange because it would always be quite full after there. Also, it would be nice to have scrapped the optio scheme on the 120 and 52 routes. Overall though this seems quite good, when will it be in place? Andy C
It's not a new initiative, it's just SYPTE trying to rebrand things. It's pathetic, it won't change things at least where I live. Things are bad where I live at Richamond. Stagecoach run a 25 route on a 12 hour serve approx 7am-7pm and don't run on Sundays. First 25 which is a poor service and always runs late and not at all on Sunday. First 22 is a poor service and to say it's supposed to be every 10 mins at day time, it's nothing to wait 40 minutes at least twice a week, but it runs a 30 mins service on Sunday (which is always late). First 32 is a poor service which seemingly just runs when it feels like it. One of the changes being proposed is an evening and Sunday service on route 25 between City and Woodhouse and also an improved evening service on the 22. http://www.sheffieldbuspartnership.co.uk/routes/25 http://www.sheffieldbuspartnership.co.uk/routes/22 On a less positive note, the daytime 32 is to be reduced to every 30 minutes but potentially more reliable http://www.sheffieldbuspartnership.co.uk/routes/
Andy C
As I've said, if you use buses in Sheffield do have a look at http://www.sheffieldbuspartnership.co.uk and see what is proposed and how it will affect you and leave your feedback, there is only one more day of consultation. The new network and other associated changes are due to happen in October, although some changes will be made to what has been published to reflect feedback. Its that good that travel planner recommends you get off it and board a different bus if you want to go from Brinsworth to Sheffield
Captain_Scarlet
No on-line form. Shame, wanted to whinge about the "28 day" nearly monthly passes. They have to stop this 28 day malarkey... The other tickets already exist in the form of the Travelmaster and South Yorkshire Day Tripper. Not much new in there but it was a very pretty website. Cheapskate one operator tickets will still be available. Trouble is they will be of less real value unless you use the PTE's best friends - stagecoach who are set to gain massively from this sham.To be fair, we've all experienced the services run down First have practice since 1998. Stagecoach are far from perfect but they're cheap, frequent and have nicer buses. The 87 is the best thing that's happened to South-West Sheffield public transport since Andrews/Yorkshire Terrier/Stagecoach pulled out of Totley fifteen years ago; placing First in a monopoly down Abbeydale Road.
