DerbyTup
If we are allowing Magic Rock...... Highwire Cannonball Bearded Lady Thornbridge...... Another vote for Raven, St. Petersburg or Pollards If we are allowing Magic Rock then surely we can include Buxton Brewery...... Wild Boar Axe Edge We have to allow Summer Wine based on my above rule.... Kahuna Diablo Cohort Crown Brewery....... Stanningon Stout Brew Company....... Quite a lot of their IPA series (but not Galaxy it was terrible) Nothing from Abbeydale or Kelham island they have lost their way in my opinion although some of the Dr. Morton stuff is good. Now here's a bloke who knows what he's talking about. You must tell us where you get to drink some of these brews kirky. I would travel far and wide to sample them. Doom
Out of interest, is anybody else on this forum intending on trying out the Old Hall Inn (Chinley) beer festival this weekend? We're planning on getting there late Saturday Afternoon.....It's a place I didn't even know existed. Regards Doom
kirkyb
Now here's a bloke who knows what he's talking about. You must tell us where you get to drink some of these brews kirky. I would travel far and wide to sample them. The places that I drink in sheffield are: The Sheffield Tap Dada Sheaf View The ale house Broadfield Ale House The Greystones Rutland Arms Henry's University Arms The Harlequin The Coach and Horses (Dronfield) The Three Tuns (Dronfield) Chesterfield Arms (self explanatory) Good places in York: The York Tap Pivo The House of trembling madness Places I get beer from: Archer Road beer stop Beer Ritz (Good for Brewdog and Bristol beer factory) My brewery tap (Amazing for american beers) Beers of Europe (Only as a very last resort) The Beer Parlour (Good for Marble, Buxton and Barlow Beers) Mitchells Wine (Ok for Thornbridge) House of trembling madness (This is the Jackpot I could happily die in there) Edited February 22, 2012 by kirkyb Forgot a few! Doom
Beers of Europe (Only as a very last resort) Can I ask why you only use Beers of Europe as a last resort? From my experience they always deliver on time, their delivery charge is a set rate no matter what quantity you order, they're cheaper than the likes of Beer Ritz and have a much wider choice. Add The Maltings to that list for York. York Tap is very good, the most traditional of all the Pivovar Tap bars with less bottles then their other places but a huge range of cask beers. Eviil Eye is another good off-licence in York, although I see that my favourite off-licence has already been mentioned on this thread. (The Beer Barlour in Chesterfield, has a better atmosphere then many pubs) Also, since their beers are popping up everywhere from The York Tap to the 3 Tuns, what does anyone think of Ilkley Brewery? Yes they are all very good I only mentioned those as Derby Tup wanted to know where I get some of the werid and wonderful stuff.
vinyl
Don't tell me. They get 2 ferrets and get one to drink Barnsley bitter and the other to drink Acorn bitter. Then, it's down the trouser with 'em both and whichever comes out on top is the winner? What about the one that comes out of the bottom.

jemson
According to their blog, The Ale House are hosting Barnsley Bitter Wars (between Oakwell and Acorn breweries) sometime soon. Apparently this starts this week! The beer adjudged the winner will retain its place on the bar.
