Death Notice Rip Off - the cost of putting them in the local paper.

Recommended Posts

In this day and age they should be able to offer a variety of designs and just charge a standard price. They will obviously have the software to do it whereas in days of yore it would have had to have been hard set. Seems to be the lack of flexibility and paying for soemnthing they dont want that has irked people the most. A standard price even if higher would get rid of this.

All newspapers, not only the Star, make their money from advertising. Given how many posters on this thread have no idea how much local newspapers mattered to people, when most didn't have landlines never mind mobiles and the Internet, I wonder how long print newspapers will survive.

Disgusting. People are already going through a very emotional time without this extra pressure

What a ridiculous comment. Its not the Stars fault that people have passed away. Its a service they provide and not compulsory. Why would putting a notice in the paper be pressure? If it is then dont do it and problem solved.

No need to worry about that and live today, printed papers are always about yesterday.
