Why should I pay for prescriptions?

Recommended Posts

It's a complete and utter joke. Just lie and tell them you are on benefits, if they ask for prove, say you will take it at a later date.

Failing that, everyone is entitled to free prescriptions if they are issued in a hospital. So be a complete and utter arse about it, if you have a simple cold, ring 999 and get yourself down A&E.

They should issue everyone free prescriptions, or charge everyone £1 nominal.

Some things require a prescription to buy, but cost less privately (amoxacillin is a good example). It can actually be rational to import drugs.

What about allopurinol...for gout?

It is a condition caused by eating tomatoes.:suspect:

Could I get that cheaper?

I quite agree, as there are so many people who don't pay for prescriptions, thats why people who do, have to pay so much.

If everyone (and I include old age pensioners) paid £1.00 then it would bring the price down, and stop people having so many different pills, that they don't always need.

Thats my opinion

They do, through taxation which funds their freebees.

It would be interesting to know what they do without so they can have these things free.

I just phoned my GP about a repeat prescription that I need. If I was getting the prescription free I would have got 6months supply, but because I pay I get one months, just to keep me paying and subsidising

MAKES ME ANGRY!

Are you sure about that, ive never known doctors give out 6 monthly presciptions.

A pharmacist informed me that for repeat prescriptions people who do not pay get a much longer supply, up to six months. I am talking about long term repeat prescriptions here.

People who pay get one months so that they keep paying.

They wouldn't accept it.

And if they even did, there is an extremely high check on prescription fraud now. I still go out drinking with people (who I used to work with) that deal with this fraud.

So good luck with that.

Incidentally, the fee for a prescription is actually waaaay less than the average cost for a prescription.

Hardly anybody pays the fee, and the people you know have non jobs, their jobs are pointless. What a sad way to make a living.
