andyofborg 11 #97 Posted March 27, 2011 it doesnt make it morally right tho, just because somethings legal or illegal doesnt change it from being right or wrong what does tax avoidance have to do with morality? would you pay more tax than you need too? all tax legislation offers opportunities for anyone (individuals and companies) to quite legitimately reduce the amount of tax they pay. the ease and amount that can be saved depends on the nature of the business and the quality of the legislation. i would imagine that most of the avoidance schemes could be closed down overnight should the government have a mind to do it but no matter how tightly the legislation was crafted other opportunities would be opened up. further opportunities would arise as new legislation was created and existing legislation amended or repealed. most, if not all, of the current avoidance methods were created by the previous government and its predecessors and none of them showed much enthusiasm for dealing with them. Cavegirl 10 #98 Posted March 27, 2011 bet your wearing some of those knickers arent you? errrrrrm i mean *gets coat* Don’t worry about substantiating the footage. Whatever you show them they will find a way of accusing you of being crazy. It's the party line. Much like the Stalinists who put dissidents in gulags and sanitarians for not believing in Socialism. I’m sure the irony will be lost on them however. Lol! I'll bear these comments in mind thanks
 Share this content via...

andyofborg 11 #102 Posted March 27, 2011 So no one is losing their job then hurray! And the seventeen year high in unemployment is just a "seasonal anomaly" pfffft. sadly, you are mistaken unfortunately plenty of people are losing their jobs and while there is always a seasonal component to rises and falls in unemployment numbers the current increases are not an anomaly
 Share this content via...

andyofborg 11 #106 Posted March 27, 2011 think about the morality, i do, frequently, but tax avoidance just isn't a moral issue the violence in london yesterday WASNT just about cuts, it wasn't about the cuts at all. ...... the vast majority of us are getting screwed and pushed closer to debt yet the rich are STILL lining their pockets and making more from peoples misery the rich have always done that and always will, that is simply a fact of life. andyofborg 11 #107 Posted March 27, 2011 Sadly this is an epic fail. why? if you think its bad now, then it would have been far worse had the banks not been rescued.
 Share this content via...
melthebell 864 #108 Posted March 27, 2011 i do, frequently, but tax avoidance just isn't a moral issue it wasn't about the cuts at all. the rich have always done that and always will, that is simply a fact of life. again, just because it happens doesnt make it right........nor should it continue. i think theres a real shift in people, in the late 70s and early to mid 80s.....then obviously with the poll tax late 80s / early 90s people were politisized, during the 90s and through the first 10 years of the 00s there was an apathy, i think the time has come where people are fed up of being screwed while they see the rich get richer and people are turning to more direct action
 Share this content via...
