lazarus Posted February 10, 2011 Share Posted February 10, 2011 I do hope not,we are losing all our Pubs. The Old Harrow on White Lane is being turned into either a Chinese or an Indian Restaurant. The Far Lees has gone, the Olive Grove is in a bad state, the Horse & Groom didnt reach its price in auction. Its time the Government did something about the smoking ban & the ridiculous price of beer, its now round about £22 a gallon makes petrol seem quite cheap by comparision. Does anyone have any more info on this? yep i heard same aswell, Dammmmmmmmm i had some great times in the cutlers as a youth lol good youth i must say cutlers was a great pub goin back years ago, i cant believe how dead it has become , when jo sen was landlord you could never get a seat in the pub and i mean the whole pub both rooms was packed , but saying that its a sighn of society today everywheres goin down the pan all we seem to be gettin is big restraunts from all the pubs closing down , i cant see a big indian restaunt doin well there and if it does by bye to all the smaller ones on townend . jamiemini Posted February 11, 2011 Share Posted February 11, 2011 yep, cutlers is going to be an indian, signs went up today.. i think old harrow is a bangladeshi speciality place. they seem to be buyin majority of the pubs and changing them into restaurants. i know the cutlers went for pretty cheap too in auction for the size of the place!!
