boyfriday
If he had been given the rope we wouldn't be wasting our time talking about this piece of filfth. Â I'm sure on reflection he might have preferred that option too having spent nearly 30 years incarcerated and no realistic prospect of ever being released, great result in my opinion. Dick
so you dont actually know if he received £200,000 or whatever amount ? the courts should have looked into his bank accounts and if he was seen as being able to pay towards it would have made him do so .if he has been awarded £50,000 towards it then he obviously does not have the funds to pay. i know this is shocking but thats the english legal system for you  His wife Sonia certainly did very nicely out of it. She got hundreds of thousands of pounds out of papers like the Mirror and Private Eye on the grounds that her "good" name had been besmirched. Even though it was quite likely she had strong suspicions that he was the Ripper. When he finally confessed to her in front of the police that he had murdererd all those women, all she said was "What did you do that for" After that her main concern was whether he'd had sex with any of them. Only one, he reassured her. Even after the Daily Mirror appealed and proved in court that she'd committed perjury she was still allowed to keep the compensation. richkent
He was sentanced to 30 years in prison. But he hasn't been in prison, he's been in Broadmoor. If he is still insane he should stay for the safety of the public. And if he's got better he can move to a prison and start his 30 years.
HeadingNorth
He was sentanced to 30 years in prison. Â Â He was not. He was ordered to be detained until no longer a threat to society - a "life" sentence as it's usually called. The trial judge recommended that he not be considered for parole until 2011, which date is almost upon us: however, that recommendation was never acted upon. No tariff has ever been set. Halibut
so would the guilford 4 and the b'ham 6 Â Somehow Frank, I don't think Treatment would fing that a very persuasive argument. He probably thinks they were guilty anyway.
frank ryan
Somehow Frank, I don't think Treatment would fing that a very persuasive argument. He probably thinks they were guilty anyway. Â fair do's - there's also the persuasive argument that if you top the wrongly convicted, they can't come back and embarress you by being innocent - perhaps treatment can enlighten us. Â on a more serious point - the FBI serial killer squad at quantico oppose execution of serial killers cos they hold the info which helps to profile and so catch others (silence of the lambs) - they do,though, support the topping of 'ordinary ' murderers, which is a bit weird isn't it? Â any hangem n floggem's got a view?
marshlad
Well, he is entitled to have a tariff set - he's still a human being. The law says he should know whether, and when, there is any chance of him ever being released. You and I both know that the only sensible answer to the question is "never."  No he is not a human being. He lost his human rights the moment he killed his first victum.
