rubydazzler
Yes - a few shops still have them but they haven't been able to buy them in for some time now.I think the fact is rather that we knew what was coming and made future provision for our customers needs ... rather than that there's low demand. I personally always recommended that people didn't have 200/150w bulbs as the capacity of the average pendant fitting is only 100w, but you can't argue too much with customers, you know

Greybeard
It would appear that, as usual, the consumer is being conned by the manufacturers and the EU. When measured in lux rather than lumens the energy saving bulbs produce little more than half the light output claimed on the packaging. Trading Standards are going to look into the matter....if the light is bright enough to see by http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/eu/6110547/Energy-saving-light-bulbs-offer-dim-future.html

dosxuk
how come when i saw it on telly it only mentioned 100 and 150 watt bulbs were kaputt? no mention of 40 or 60 watt bulbs??? All frosted domestic lamps of any wattage below a certain efficiency category are also banned. This includes 30W, 40W, 50W & 60W frosted BC/ES lamps. The tabloids don't like to say you'll still be able to get 75W clear lamps legally for another year (when they get banned, the story can be rolled out again).
