Dempseys, No. 1, Hereford St. Moorfoot. Open 7days a week, from 12 NOON, food till very late, karaoke Wednesdays and Sundays, Drag DJ on Mondays, occasional Cabaret. Open until very late (4am) Fridays and Saturdays, 3am on other nights.

 

Lions Lair, opposite John Lewis, Open 4 days a week including Friday and Saturday. Extra late chillout parties on Saturday nights.

 

Club Xes, 195 Carlisle Street, Open Thurs-Sunday; 10pm-3am Thurs, 9pm till evan later Fri-Sun (Till 6am Saturday) Transvestite Night Les Femmes (Often upwards of 20 Transvestites and drag queens) on Second, third, fourth and fifth Friday of the month; Bears Night First Friday each month.

 

SANCTUARY: near C Of E Cathedral, down side street parallel with High St. Open most nights of the week, very stylish decor, TOP DJ's including John Dixon, hosts POPTASTIC SHEFFIELD on First Friday of every month.

 

CLIMAX: HUGE Monthly Gay Night at UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD STUDENTS UNION (NOT Hallam Uni), on Western Bank, Normally 3rd Friday EVERY MONTH. Two rooms with top DJ's including SCOTT KELLY. This is officially the LARGEST Gay Night in Yorkshire.

 

Affinity, Campo Lane, Open in daytime as normal pub for food, DJ's most nights, including James Marriott!

 

And a special mention for ROTHERHAM (Many people out on the Sheffield Gay Scene trek in from Rotherham:

Rotherham now has its VERY OWN WEEKLY GAY NIGHT:

'SWEET', EVERY SUNDAY (YES, it's on TONIGHT!) at Onyx Rooms, Westgate, close to bus/train station, with popular DJ's and drag entertainment!

Lions Lair is open Tues, Thurs, Fri and Sat 5pm- midnight. Also open Friday night and sat night 3am-6am for afterparties (technically sat and sunday morning!)

Lions Lair has a real fire and friendly staff - Also if you like Karaoke, Affinity also run a Karaoke night mon night with DJ Anja Bach and Sanctuary do it Sunday night also - not forgetting Dempseys do it on Wed and Sun nights ...

... also not forgetting the Roebuck Tavern does it on a Fri eve and could be considered a mixed/gay friendly place ...

i would highly recomend affinity, friendly patronage and staff, allways feel welcome there, and its not too in your face as i would consider dempseys and exes to be

dont bother with xes its full of druggies and str8s anywhere that opens till 6am and stops serving at 3am, means trouble, stick to town bars and you will be fine

That's rather unfair, they have very good and observant security, and all their staff are among the kindest people and can handle any situation.

 

Club Xes is also the ONLY regular Transgender venue, with LES FEMMES transgender nights EACH AND EVERY Friday (EXCEPT first Friday each month which is Bears Night).

 

BTW, Could any venues altering their hours over Easter Weekend from Good friday to BH Monday, please post altered times in this thread.
