perplexed   10 #27 Posted January 22, 2009 This brings back memories of when it was Hillards on the 1970s...  I remember having a slight miss-hap with the trolly in the car park. My parents had been shopping there, and I was genuinley trying to be helpful whilst they unloaded the shopping into the boot of the car.  Well I wasn't very old at the time, and the trolly was fully laden and therefore heavy.  And the car park as you may recall, was built on a fair slope...and the car park was full...  You may see where this is going...  Anyway, cue the sight of me dad hurtling down the car park in pusuit of a weighty Hillard's trolly, frantically trying (and succeeding thankfully) to prevent paintwork carnage...  Ah, happy days... Yeah but   0 #28 Posted April 10, 2019 The building that is now the "Job Lot" once had a library in the same building ; you had to go up a flight of stairs to it. There was an impressive artwork of various things to do with story books completely covering the walls of the stairway. Inside I remember a small enclosed circular sitting area for young toddlers to be contained in.  If anyone has information and pictures of the inside of the library including the stairway that would be great. Takes me back. Edited April 10, 2019 by Yeah but
 Share this content via...
gene   10 #31 Posted April 10, 2019 We went past Job Lot today and both said how awful it looked - needs a good coat of paint. It looks an absolute mess. The exterior puts me off going in.
 Share this content via...

gene   10 #34 Posted April 17, 2019 Was - no longer a library now. On the Barnsley Rd as you head down to Ecclesfield. Ugly building to start with but it was handy as a library and now it is about time it was cleaned up but I guess profit comes first for Job Lot.
 Share this content via...
