Some good news at last - Obama is back in front

Recommended Posts

of course it is, but that's not why she's probably going to end up on the losing ticket. It's because her would-be boss has made a pig's ear of the campaign. Had she been the running mate to somebody that was any good, her parochialism wouldn't have mattered a jot and in fact it might have been turned into an advantage.

running mates hardly ever matter in Presidential elections and Palin and Biden are no exception to the rule.

I suspect it would make a difference if the emails implicating her in the TrooperGate affair were to be released prior to the election and not after.

We've debated this issue before but I don't really share that thinking.

Whilst you are probably correct, that most running mates make little difference, I think this election is much different from the ones that have gone before.

Over 70 million US viewers watched the Palin Biden Vice Presidential debate live, and that is one of the highest ever recorded for any presidential or vice presidential debates.

In contrast only 52.5 million actually watched the first presidential debate between Obama and McCain.

Now people wouldn't watch the vice presidential debate in such numbers, unless they thought it might help them choose who to vote for.

The Vice presidential debate between Biden and Palin beat the previous highest audience for a VP the in debate 1984 when 56.7 million tuned in for Geraldine Ferraro with George HW Bush.

So there was immense interest in particuarly in Palin.

McCains poll numbers also went up after Palin made her speech at the Republican convention.

So like I said this is no ordinary election, and the Republican pick of Palin clearly has had an effect even though initial gains by Palin have been cancelled out by both the financial crisis and Palins lack of suitability for high office being exposed.

One of McCain's sponsors was on the same Chicago education board that Barack Obama and William Ayers, were on. If it was ok for Leonore Annenberg to be on that board, then why shouldn't Obama.

It is mere association and feeble compared with McCain's history.

Well exactly, like I said in an early post, if Palin was so concerned by Obama's association with Ayers, then why does she no concern about anyone else that has studied or taught at the University of Illinois, or has any association with the University.

How do we know that the White House and Republican party don't already have amongst its midsts graduates taught by Ayers, or sponsors who helped organistations that Ayers was a board member of.

It's simply ridiculous and idiotic...... but then again so is Palin:suspect:

Not really sure if you've understood my point at all!

This isn't about which candidate supports Isreal, it's about which candidate is being even handed!

Palin thinks Obama is dangerous because of his association with Ayers, but thinks nothing of Isreal's association with Begin.

Again the emphasis is on Palin's shakey reasoning that Obama is guilty by association with Ayers, she isn't being even handed in her analysis, but then again that could be either because she hasn't got a very good analytical brain,or perhaps she is ignorant of the King David Hotel bombing.

Palin regards Israel as an ally and a friend.

I'm not even sure if the woman has even heard of Begin and most likely the King David hotel either.

Might even think it's located in Gnome or Fairbanks.

I don't call this the view of an "observer."

Not so long ago, Labour turned out in force in this Country to overturn a vote that the Conservative party here brought around to curb the freebies and expenses that MP's were pocketing. It seems to me that the socialists are no different over there and you support them through all your warped rhetoric.

You dont know me from Adam or what I believe in and I dont know you either.

My postings on this thread are mostly observations from a neutral point of view.

All I know is that there needs to be a reckoning in Washington after the election and those involved in bringing down the economy whether Democrat or Republican need to be punished as well as the greedy CEOs of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG and Lehman brothers

It's as simple as that.

I think you are probably right on that. She does know about foreign policy though, because she can see Russia from her home in Alaska. :D

Logically I wouldn't expect her to know much if anything on foreign policy.

She is after all a state governor and that is far removed from being a Washington politician. State governors dont as a rule get much involved in foreign policy matters. It's not in their job description.

For that matter I dont think Obama has all that much experience either in foreign policy but he will have Joe Biden behind him and Biden is very much experienced in foreign policy matters gained from many years as a Washington senator.

But I'm not a State Govenor, but I know about Begin, The King David Hotel and the history of Israel!
