Shogun   10 #73 Posted January 3, 2016 I know its an old thread, one of my mates at the time was a geordie living here in sheffield,he was a bit of a lad for the girls, once that tape came out he was like the plague when ever we went out, as soon as he opened his mouth and they heard his accent they would run a mile,,the next thing the coppers would turn up as someone would have rung up saying we have the ripper here,he had a load of visits to his house by the coppers questioning him it made his life a misery for a while that guy who made that tape was responsible for a lot more attacks as he lead the copers down the wrong path for a few years, they even interviewed sutcliffe at work but did nothing because he did not have a geordie accent. Halibut   12 #74 Posted January 3, 2016 You have just exercised a 'Civil Liberty' just there. ---------- Post added 03-01-2016 at 01:46 ----------   He was taken to Hammerton Road police station where when in the toilet tried to dispose of some evidence (screwdriver ?) The rest ???  I met the arresting officer once when I was a student psychiatric nurse at Middlewood in the late 80's - and I recall him saying the same thing; I seem to recall him saying it felt like a real breakthrough when they found the weapon(s) behind the lavvy cistern. Screwdriver fits with my recollection as well and I fancy there may have been a hammer too - but maybe that's my memory playing tricks on me. Whilst in Hammerton road police station Sutcliffe lifted the lid of the toilet cistern and placed a screwdriver inside, this was also later found. I remember him robbing the High Green post office while I was living there in the early seventies, however this was before he got into kidnapping and murder. Recently read that Neilson died in jail in 2011   Donald Neilson did indeed break into the High Green post office where he tied up the postmaster and his wife then emptied the safe. He also commited many similar crimes including post offices at both Jump Barnsley and Rawmarsh Rotherham. Its intresting that a Doctor Hugo Milne was the Psychiatrist who gave evidence at both Neilson and Sutcliffe's trial. If I remember correctly Hugo Milnes evidence of diminished responsibility in Sutcliffe's case was not excepted. They both knew exactly what they were doing and deserved to rot in prison before they begin to rot in hell.
 Share this content via...
