What colour was the squirrel? If it was red they are a protected species and he should have done everything to try to save its life - check pulse, wether it was still breathing, mouth to mouth as necessary, and then called the helicopter rescue service if anything more serious was required.

Thanks, I hope it doesn't go on for weeks - and there I was thinking it should be over in a couple of days or so! lol. I'll try the raising the end of the bed idea for the coughing. We were giving her some baby cough medicine but I think this stuff can sometimes make it worse rather than better. What also doesn't help is my daughter will only be breastfed and refuses bottles, so whilst my wife is feeding her and what with them both coughing away, the whole process can be very interruptive and I'd imagine exhausting!

Well it's the first time my daughter has been ill, now at 18 weeks, and my wife is home looking after her but is also not well. They've both got nasty chesty coughs which are painful on their throats too. I'm lucky in so much that I haven't come down with it...yet! But I just wish I didn't have to be at work instead of at home and looking after them. It seems little 'un is also crying a lot because of all the coughing and probable throat pain. Calpol has now been given so hopefully that'll improve things. Anyone else been in this situation, any hints and tips that'd help please? And is there any point at which any of you would take time off work to go home and look after your own when they're not well? I'm not sure how to deal with the whole staying at home to look after ill kids yet as this is the first time it's happened!

I wouldn't necessarily just defrost it in a normal microwave, it'd make the pork tough and not too tasty. However I have a microwave that is also an oven and grill, so it has settings to defrost just about anything and uses a combination of heating elements to do this, I think it mostly defrosts with microwave and oven though - always works brilliantly!

So if the council had asked 1 million car drivers and 20 pedestrians wether this change to the road layout would be beneficial. and those 1 million drivers said no it'd make the route worse whilst the 20 pedestrians said it would improve things - the council would still side with the 20 pedestrians, simply because of the hierachy. Could I perhaps suggest then that the council has the hierachy wrong! I would have thought improvement for the majority would be better than improvement for the minority. And before we start talking about eco this, pollution that and congestion the other - if these things were priority then the money would have been better spent improving public transport so more car drivers would use it. Therefore making the improvements beneficial to the majority. I am one person in millions driven from the buses through bad service, unreliable service and dirty service. I could not afford to keep being late for work or setting off ridiculously early to be on time and so I became a 2 vehicle houselhold. Until the time comes that public transport is more reliable again, I'll be part of the majority using Woodseats as a throughfare and finding the system set up rubbish as it doesn't serve the majority.

Totally agreed, I would even go as far as to say there are more people put out by these changes who drive cars through Woodseats regularly, than there are people who use the public transport this initially catered for! And again I stress there were many people at the time who stated this would never work... Planner1, whilst I'm impressed with the calm and efficient way in which you deal with all these complaints and forum users expressing their opinions, you also come across as a bit of a brick wall whereby no wrong-doing of the council can penetrate... no offence meant.

So now we all know the user is gh0ti why don't you just invite him/her onto this thread to explain themselves instead of all this 2nd guessing!? Maybe offer a pic just to tempt them even more?

I could have told them this months/years ago whilst the work was still going on!! And I'm certainly not the only one, but oh no, don't listen to the general public who use these routes regularly - Take a guess and make a mess - a new council policy I've just created for them.

This has just confused me even more!! I believe the air con automatically comes on when heat and windscreen demister are selected on the dash. The screen then immediately mists up even more with what looks like icy mist before slowly clearing. Is this due to the air con initially blowing cold air out before heating up which then clears the screen? Perhaps a better way would be to not use the demister until the air con has already heated up?

in my Focus the demister sometimes seems to make the screen mist up MORE rather than less - could this be due to the air con being on? I've got a feeling selecting the demister automatically puts the air con on which in turn makes the screen mist up before getting rid of it again - could I be right!?

From what I've read about this, it seems a car has had a nasty accident and ended up in the middle of a roundabout and the police are currently diverting traffic. You might know where I mean, on the Beighton road roundabout by the recycling centre.

That sounds right, in my company you have to have worked for 6 months before getting paternity leave. It also seems more difficult for fathers to get flexible working hours to suit childcare, I might be wrong though - I haven't pursued that avenue completely yet!!

Since having my now 3 month old daughter, we've been very lucky that my wife has been able to take a year off from work to look after her. The setup and support for new mothers and babies through support groups such as Surestart is excellent. Many courses are arranged through the week for her to attend, like baby massage, baby first aid, breastfeeding etc, etc. Now I work the usual office hours and am quite happy for her that all this takes place, however surely they must include fathers in this at some point - particularly with things like baby first aid. Do I have rights to paid leave from work to attend things like this? I've already done quite a bit of searching around company policy, Google etc but haven't come up with anything. My next step would be contact my HR dept I suppose (useless at the best of times!). Added to this I'm partially deaf and that courses are now coming up for things like baby sign language - something I think is very important for me to attend. Anyone any ideas about my rights to time off work for things like this or who the best people to contact would be?

Other thing is, just because it's been fine for the past 7 years doesn't mean it'll be fine for the next 7 years!!

Get the work done unfortunately, I reckon he means you need a flue pipe up your chimney - it's also got to be the right size for your boiler.

I've just eaten a Drifter so as per this thread.... I'm crisp, have been dipped in chewy caramel and covered in REAL milk chocolate. I'm chewy, full of chocolate and you really have to get your teeth into me. Also apparently, on average it takes one hour to make one of me from start to finish, and over 90 million of me are produced each year!!

Has anyone received or given a present made of copper or pottery that was particularly unusual or just went down really well? I'm looking for ideas!

Well from past experience I know I can expect 'Busy main road goes through busy district shopping centre' will lead to the council putting up more traffic lights, to cause more chaos and even longer jams than there were previously...

Didn't think they'd need a variable message sign at that point.... just a standard written sign saying: 'Woodseats at standstill ahead'....

It's just not financially viable anymore I guess, it'd have to have 24hr manned security with 12 ft high fences all around it to stop vandals getting in and messing it up! There would also have to be first aiders on site whilst it was open. To pay for all this everyone would have to be charged to enter, and shortly after there'd be a thread on here complaining about 'prices being too high' and 'won't go back there again', a few months down the line and it'd have to shut again and go back into disrepair... At least the paddle boats are still in use, although the last time I was there at about 5 when it closed a group of 15-20 teenage girls turned up, stripped to their undies, got in, released the boats and proceeded to mess around for an hour before the police turned up and sent them away. It's this kind of behaviour that will get the boating pool closed down too! I just hope I can bring up my daughter with a bit more self respect than to get involved in stuff like this...
