  1. Better to keep silent and have others think you are stupid Than to open your mouth and have them know that you are .
  2. For me, this forum has helped enormously . I`m confined to barracks, taking care of my disabled husband and so for me, its been great to read all sections of this particular forum as I was born and raised in Sheffield . Most of the posts have raised a smile and many of them been interesting, its helps two pensioners to pass an hour or so x Kate
  3. Many years ago , when my youngest daughter was about 4 , we were staying in a very posh hotel in Torquay . Eating in the quiet restaurant , my husband whispered to her to not speak with her mouth full because she was eating like a pig and should know better . She thought on this, I could see her brain working overtime before declaring loudly " But Daddy , look at the lady on the next table , she`s eating like a pig "
  4. Thats why I said , " as far as anyone can tell me " !!! I have cardio vascular disease which is why , due to my symptoms , the Doc has dished out tamiflu but how the heck can the medics really know from a phone call diagnosis ? Lots of calcuated guess work going on I suspect, I feel sorry for G.P`s who are told not to allow patients to visit the surgery, understandable I suppose , and to make a telephone diagnosis . How on earth can the media figures be anywhere near correct ?
  5. Well , Ive got the dreaded lurgy , as far as anyone can tell me anyway !! I`m 62, retired , and definately not a hypochondriac ! And before someone tells me I`ve spelled that wrong , I dont care , feeling yukky so thats my excuse
  6. Thanks , I do not get paid and I have asked three times now, politely , for my articles to be removed . The website owner is more than capable of doing this and I am aware that he has received my e mail request . As its only a few days since my last e mail request , I will give him maybe until this time next week . Thanks for explaining this to me , much appreciated Kate

  8. Thanks for th help , I`ve done it !! Now i have a major problem but I dont know if anyone can help , its maybe more of a legal problem ? I have just resigned a Moderator of a website, due to a difference of opinion , putting it politely . I have articles on this website, ones that I have written , not copied but my work with my name on . I have asked politely that all of my material is removed from this site but this has not happened , can I insist upon it ? thanks if anyone has a clue Kate

  10. I`ll be 62 next week and can just remember a song my Nanan used to sing to me Felix kept on walking Kept on walking still With his hands behind You will always find him They blew him up with dynamite But him they could not kill Right up in the air he flew Landed down in Timbuktoo But he kept on walking still Anyone else remember this or is my brain playing tricks ? Kate x
  11. We got out just in time, selling the lease of our lovely country pub two years ago . Ours was owned by a smaller family brewery but even they charged us astronomical prices for our ale , wine and spirits , making a profit was nigh on impossible and many customers who complained about oue prices were staggered when shown the proof of what we had to pay . Business rates were also sky high and going up every year and as for the smoking ban , it would have ruined us had we not been lucky and sold . I can understand the ban but when pups have a snug , as we did , far away from the eaters and the main bar , seperate entrance etc. where was the harm in allowing smoking to continue in these areas only ? I feel very sorry indeed for " tied " landlords , its a thankless task . Kate
  12. Thanks a lot for this link , some good ideas ! Sorry dogs

  18. I transplanted most of my courgettes outside and they have done just fine but I left 3 plants in the greenhouse, not in pots but straight into the earth on the floor . The are huge and bearing courgettes well but the leave are triffid like and shading everything, they are huge ! If I cut back some of the biggest leaves, will this affect the plant itself ? Thanks for any help . Kate

  22. I hope you dont mind me sharing this , Aunty Ada used to go to a coffee morning for the elderly up until about two years ago . When she was about 94, she met a man called George at the coffee morning and they really hit it off . Aunty Ada told me on the phone that George had asked her to have lunch with him and see more of him, " Well " she said , " I thought, it cant do any harm so I told him ok then , but no sex " Priceless !!
  23. My great aunty Ada is 100 years young on Monday ! She still lives in the home shes lived in for 70 years , still cooks and bakes and potters about, shes a star ! She is now the oldest resident of Heeley and I`m really proud of her xxx
