  1. I totally agree with your post and think he has done a great job. I wish him luck as he continues his work in his ward.
  2. Despite it not being a studenty area, I always thought that a Subway on Woodseats would do well. Domino's and Gregg's on Chesterfield Road seem to do ok and my friends always say that they would like to see one in the area. The nearest one is the London Road one.
  3. I like both grey and red squirrels. The decline of the reds is due to human intervention and I don't feel that the greys should suffer for it. Survival of the fittest and all that. I have never seen a red in Sheffield but I think they are beautiful. There are quite a few conservation and protection programmes running for red squirrels particularly in Scotland. I have seen pictures of black squirrels but never seen one myself.
  4. HARC (Homeless and Rootless at Christmas) Sheffield need clothing donations. Not sure about blankets etc. Here is a recent article about them in the Star http://www.thestar.co.uk/headlines/Call-to-help-Sheffield-homeless.6651046.jp
  5. Really sad to see this great shop close. I only live around the corner from it and used to love popping in at lunch time. Their cupcakes were great quality and I often told my friends about them. It's also a shame to see another independent shop close down in S8.
  6. There is an article about tonight's fireball here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/8190171/Spectacular-meteor-fireball-explosion-over-Britain-leaves-stargazers-buzzing-ahead-of-Geminid-space-shower.html
  7. Apparently this fireball has been seen all over, all the way from Fife right down to Somerset.
  8. There have been alot of reports on Twitter of a large fireball over the UK at around 17:30pm. Many are suspecting an early Geminid meteorite. There are also reports of two large fireballs over Atlanta, US so I think they could be right.
  9. No longer a message on website saying it is only open for prebooked ticket holders and Cineworld have tweeted: SHEFFIELD UPDATE! Weve been given the all-clear folks! We are back open for business! Come in and wave your Yorkshire wands about. Sheffield is open as normal for all customers not just those holding prebooked tickets
  10. We have pre booked for tonight. Managed to get hold of Cineworld Sheffield's phone number. I asked about it and they said it is a health and safety issue beyond their control. When I enquired further, she said that she wasn't allowed to say anything else about it.
  11. I've given my cats these whole dried fish before from Zooplus and they really liked them unlike the OH who found them a bit gruesome but he's squeamish.
  12. I live in S8 and we had our blue bin stolen a couple of months ago. It was replaced pretty quickly but was irritating nonetheless.
  13. Our front garden is the neighbourhood litter tray but as they don't realise that they are defecating on my property and since it is biodegradable anyway, I let them get on with it. The best deterrent we ever had was the next door neighbours cat - it was her territory and she wouldn't let any other kitty wander on there. I would never threaten to hurt any animal and find it disgusting that someone would. We have a few offending dog dirt piles around here too but I don't run down the road after the owner threatening to harm the dog.
  14. Hair Kandi are fab. I went there a couple of weeks ago for the first time and was extremely impressed. As was posted earlier, they do hair and beauty treatments. I would definitely recommend it.
  15. Exactly. I am sick to death of people saying 'Lib Dem voters won't be happy'. (I have noticed that the majority of people who say this aren't LD supporters themselves) Myself, my boyfriend and several friends are all Lib Dem supporters and are perfectly happy with how this has turned out.
  16. How about Christina Hendricks from Mad Men? http://www.modelcruz.com/woman/2009/christina-hendricks/pictures/christina_hendricks_model_4632.jpg
  17. You're welcome! He's a gorgeous boy :-) Sorry about your Landrover though.
  18. Really glad you got him back Athena :-)
  19. If it is him then they have no evidence to back up the gccf registered claim as they won't have any certificates etc.
  20. Oh No. Why would a vet value a lost cat? That seems dodgy to me. I really hope you get this sorted and I hope they don't try to charge you for his return. Also, do you have anything to indicate that he is yours? Photos, papers etc? Might help.
  21. I'm soooo pleased I have two orientals myself and always check the Siamese rescue lost and found. I live in S8 myself and originally contacted somebody else via RSPCA thinking it was their lost cat which it wasn't. When I saw this I really hoped it was your cat cause I know how heartbreaking it must feel to lose one. Fab News!
  22. This him? http://siameserescue.info/Found.aspx
  23. It's a matter of perception- I found it to be very clever and original. I was also pleased to see Sheffield featured in a National party political broadcast.
  24. Whenever I go to Subway, it is for a takeaway so I can't really comment on what it is like to sit in. I do find the staff at that particular Subway extremely polite and helpful which I haven't found at other sites such as Eccy road.
