  1. Its my parents 30th wedding annaversary this yr, and i would like to give them a present they will love, I have an idea, I was thinking about them renewing there wedding vows, i have asked them they said they love too but with the 'credit crunch' they cant afford it as my dad is now disabled so they only on benefits. I am just wondering does it cost as much to renew the wedding vows then it is too get married, i mean if i do offer to pay for this, what is the cheapest possible route to get this done??
  2. Hiya, I just want to warn you all of a barn fire full of hay on the country road between 'tickhill' and 'maltby' (tickhill rd i think)on the 's bends' theres a barn fire, the road is not closed but theres cars stopping on the road to have a look at it. I know its not a main part of sheffield but it just incase your off out tonight in that area. Looks like theres a few fire engines there but only one is trying to dampen down the fire as its full of hay so they just might wait till its burnt out by itself, as i type this the police chopper is circleing round the woods behind my house looks like its looking for some one.
  3. I have a son who will be 4 in june, i am so fedup of trying to get him out of nappies. During the day he wears pull-ups and he uses them like normal nappies. He goes on his potty and does his stuff, but as soon as a nappie/pull-up goes back on him its as if he is not bothered about trying to learn to get clean, I have sat him on the toilet at times and he doesnt even do anything on there. Now I am having problems with him, he has always been slow at doing things like crawling and walking. He currently is going through speech thearpy and he could have a type of autism which he is going to hospital about. At school/nursary when all the kids go to the toilet, he is the only one who doesnt go. I dont know if its becasuse he is slow at everything, but you would think that after 14 mths of trying to get him clean, you would think he would be. I have even put on uderpants and trousers and he just wets himself and if it was left up to him he could sit in it all day. Every morning he is waking up wet through, as if he has no feeling, He comes downstairs and he doesnt even tell me he is wet or take off his clothes. The thing is pull-ups are not ment to hold much water and so i put a nappie on him, but when he has a wee he goes on for ever so his weeing for longer and the nappies are not even holding much water, its got that bad that i do have to linit on what he drinks. I dont want to do this with his drinking. I take him to the docs and they just say, oh well he is only a little 3 yhr old boy. Has anybody got any advice for me, as steam is coming from my ears!!!

(very bad where i live, nr the pit and elgar drive)

Pick up from maltby
  7. Hi, I saw this thread and just had to reply. Firstly you are not doing anything wrong at letting him watch tv and playing with his toys. This is my son, Toby this was taken in july 2008 Look at his right eye. he does have not one, but 2 lazy eyes. My health visitor referred him to the eye clinic at doncaster hospital, as thats where we was l iving at the time (doncaster). They admited he has an eye problem so gave him glasses to wear, which to be honest didnt work that well as they kept falling off his nose! So every 2 mths we had to keep going for check ups at the hospital to see if the glasses have improved his eyes and to measure up his eye pupils. Unfortionately the glasses are doing nothing for him. On 5th january he had another appointment, and got told he will have to have surgery on both eyes to correct them, he would only be in hospital in the morning and he would be out in the afternoon or evening at the latest and he would have to have a week off school/nursary. I noticed the eye problem when he was about 1 yr old, he started falling over nothing and reaching for things what he could see but actaully not touching anything, its really hard to explain. Picture a clock, if he had a drink in the 12 position he would reach to the 2 position. I wear glasses as i had the same thing when i was his age i did also have the surgery then. Untill tobys operation his eyes are getting slightly worse everyday. He will be 4 yr old in june this yr and i noticed this when he was 1 yr old, so its taken me this long to try and sort it out. He has another appointment on 23rd feb and am hoping from there they will give me a date for the op, As we go away at end of may so i would feel if he had it done before then he will enjoy it better. I will keep you updated on how he goes on. But i hope you can get your son sorted soon, even if it takes the same amount of time like it has for me to sort it. take care.
  8. I have 2 children and i get now £33.20 a week for both children as i get paid weekly, I also get child tax credits. My husband is on incapacity benefit for both of us so its a low income, but i get now £86.90 a week on child tax credit, thats without the baby part as my youngest is now 17mths. Got a letter though saying in April its going up to £94 odd pound
  9. I havent found anything as yet, but I am only getting quotes at the moment.
  10. Hi I am going away and need a cattery/cat sitter for dates 29th may till 6 june. I am only on benefits so the money side of it has to be the cheapest. The best price i have come across is £80 for 2 cats sharing. I do live in Maltby, so i am willing to travel to rotherham, sheffield, doncaster and surrounding areas for the cattery. cheers in advance
  11. Just to let you all know that I got my £60 today. So its on its way to you soon.
  12. I have a holiday booked with haven for May 29th 2009 for one week at the seashore camp in great yarmouth. cost me £222 self catering in a caravan 4 star. (thats like the next one above the bronze (cheapest model)) great yarmouths nice, they have some lovely sand dunes what my kids love, they have a great model village and sea life centre, but you can buy discount tickets to get in these attractions (£9.50 per adult for sealife but tickets from haven are £6 per person) they have a fab market on the wednesday and i have to say they do the best chips that i have ever tried (50p for a cone) of course theres the norfolk broads. stock car racing or greyhound racing loads and loads of shops to walk round. a few miles down the road you have the following: http://www.pleasurewoodhills.com/ have a look!
  13. My son who is 3 and half years old, has been very strange the last 2 yrs or so at doing things. These include the following: *A nightmare to potty/toilet train. *Has no sensation when he has a wee or a poo (as every morning he is wet and he doesnt feel it). *Just stairs at me when am talking to him as if he doesnt understand what i am saying. *He does dress/undress himself but has to do it in an order, so shoes off (if he has any on) trousers off, pull - up off, clean nappy on, t-shirt off, trousers on, socks off, top on (this is when he gets changed for bed) If we ask him to take tshirt off before nappy he screams and crys saying no! *can colour in but pencils need to be in colour order before he is happy to colour in. *lose interest very quickly even with new toys. *He throws a tantrum out of the blue, for no reason at all. *He does need to go to speech therapy, so talking not that clever. *For as an example, gets his cup, brings it to me and doesnt actually say what he wants, as if he has forgotten the word untill I say whats wrong. *bangs/hits himself mainly on his head when he can't get the things done what he wants to get done * he was slow at crawling and sitting that was 10mths old, and walking he was walking just last yr in april (22mths) This is just some of the things that I have to put up with all day every day. Now I also have a 15mth daughter, who is totally different, shes into everything and nothing like what my son was at that age. My mother in law has him for one night about once a mth and she works in a care home, she sees people with these sort of disabilitys everyday. She said to me on saturday that she thinks my son (toby) could have Autism, shes noticed it for about a year but didnt want to upset me by telling me what she thinks. Now reading some info on Autism on the internet, I am now thinking that he does have Autism. Is there any parent out there who has a child with this problem? Like I say the things what are mentioned above is only some of the things he does. Please help, as I will take him to the docs after xmas, or I might wait till he has a speech therapy appointment on 12th jan.
  14. Back in my school days, I used to get a chest pain, as if my heart was going to explode. Didnt think much of it at the time, untill one day it really made me bad, to the point where my arm went num. I told my mum about it while I had the pain in my chest. I got rushed to hospital, I then explained what it felt like...They checked my pulse, the nurse lost count at over 245 beats per mintue, from there it was like a dream... Anyway they got it under control, they explained to me what I have got. Its a heart problem, it beats to fast.(Supraventricular tachycardia ) That day I will never forget, as I got told that I could never have children:( This was a health problem I had to put up with, on pills to control it, having children wasnt on my mind, which to be honest when they told me that it really didnt bother me, I was only a teenager at the time and still a virgin! Some years went by, my mum and dad actually bought a caravan on butlins in skegenss, and when I left school I spent most of my time there (9 mths out of 12) Then one night I met a guy, started going out with him, at the end of the season when we shut down the caravan he quit his job (he was working in a bar in butlins) and came home with me, My parents let him stay at our house. That christmas I found out i was pregnant (think i was about 19 then) I really didnt know what to think, I then thought to that day what the doctor told me at the hospital. Anyway the dte came to my first scan which was about 1 week before christmas, to my guilt, I found out i had a miscarriage.....with twins. After the bad time, I ended up taking a tablet to get rid of them, but just 12 hours later, I was in hospital as I was losing alot of blood. I think after the miscarriage that bought me and then fience! closer together. The christmas after I found out I was pregnant again, I was really nervous on my scan. But there it was a heartbeat. On the 17th June 2005 My son was born weighing 7lb 11oz born by c/section (due to heart problem) I was so proud. Then some years later, I found out I was pregnant again, But everything went really well and had the baby on 10th september 2007, my daughter keira. Ok I know this is a long thread and story, but the point is at the end of the day, when I am putting my kids to bed I still hear them doctors words ' you can never have children ' All I can say, look at me now, I still Have the heart condition, and I have 2 wonderful kids, which is the best thing yet, Also last year we actually got married. Has anybody else ever been told this??? (again sorry for the long thread)
  15. Hi, I have been cleaning up my house today and having a sort out. In my living room I have a woolie 'shaggy' rug, I havent had it that long it was brand new in August. I was sat on the rug today sorting bits out, and a got a flea on me:gag: So I got up and rolled up the rug and sprayed the rug with some household flea spray. Now for the last few weeks I have noticed a fair few fleas about, I got a kitten not so long ago and realised when I got her home that she was covered in fleas. Since treating her and my other cat and my dog and my house! I cant seem to get rid of them. Could anyone reccomend me some good flea treatments for my pets and house? If so the website/price...? cheers
  16. Asking this question on behalf of my husband... Husband (dave) found out he was allowed to Disability Living Allowance at the higher rate (mobility) back in April 20006. He decided to get the Motability car, he got a citreon picasso. August 2007 he found out that he was no longer entittled to DLA. So he appealed against this which the appeal got heard in Feb 08, Dave won the appeal with a doctors letter from his own GP. So few months ago, he got the renew pack, he has been told again he is no longer entittled to DLA.... So again we are going to appeal. Now the main problem is the car will be getting taken away in feb 09 (was due to get a new one in April 09) like last time, we had a choice of what to do.. we could get the car picked up by motability and so we will be car-less or we could keep the car until the hearing of the appeal and if we win the appeal the back pay will be paid to motability or if we lose the appeal we would have to pay up for the car in the weeks and months of waiting for the appeal to be heard (so we have tp pay like £45 (as it was then) per week to pay up for the car, theres no way we could afford that) So we have gone out and bought a cheap car as a back up because whatever happens we can let the picasso go in feb 09. Now the question...IF he loses DLA then thats fine as we will be covered using the cheap car we have got to get around and nothing to pay as the picasso would go in feb09. If he wins the appeal what happens? I mean he has been told that there could be a chance to get the appeal in before feb 09 so we will still have the picasso, As we want to get rid of the picasso (as we dont want to go through the same thing again and worry about the car) Do we have to keep the picasso until april (when the mobility contract thing ends) or can we still phone Motability up and ask them to come and collect the car as we no longer want it and then would we get the money for DLA per week/month? I know it sounds really confusing, but this will be the second time that we have gone through appeal. We dont want it a third time as if that car goes, we will have no form of transport ( and i do refuse to pay bus fare prices these days) I know that we are also better off having a Motability car as we only pay for petrol, but again we want our own car what we own. Even if he wins the appeal at least we would get free tax for the car we own. can anybody give us some advice
  17. Ok been on the pill for just over 1 yr (had my last baby september 2007) At the begining of september this year I got UTI... got told not to have the weeks break in my pill due to antibiotics being taken for the UTI so pill wont be working as much to protect me. Didnt use extra protection:rolleyes: Now got all the signs of being pregnant, I am even getting a kicking feeling. Done 2 tests one said negative one was invalid. I have major heartburn everyday (as i have done with other babys) People friends/family asked me if I am puting on weight or am i pregnant as my belly seems to stick out more. I am just starting to go to a weight clinic at my doctors surgury, and they have taken blood tests- full blood count to see if i can have slimming pills. Would they pick up the pregnacy hormone or not even though its not for that?
  18. I hear myself say 'If you fall over and brake your leg, Dont come running to me'.....

Mt wedding favours I made myself got boxes from ebay and put in mini eggs, as it was easter! Flowers freshly made at my local florist. My mother in law paid for them. And.... our honeymoon (you are gonna laugh at this) Great Yarmouth...camping..lol You know what though. I enjoyed every minute off it. (am taking about the camping aswell)
  22. Good luck for tomorrow. I am sure everything will go well. Don't need to be nervous just go out and enjoy yourself. Its only friends and family that will be watching you so I am sure you will be fine.
  23. Expecting my first baby, Very nervous on my 3 mth scan due to having a miscarage with twins just 1 year before. I always got told that I couldnt have children, I have a heart problem, So when I found out I was pregnant for the second time you can imagine how I felt. I got to 20 weeks I had my scan, I asked what sex it is. I got told its a boy. I was living in skegness then so my nearest main hospital was Boston In lincolnshire. When I hit the 40 week mark I could barly walk it felt baby was going to fall out of me. I got told I will have to have a c/section due to my heart problem and on the scan baby was showing that the weight is 11lb .... So when I hit week 42, I had to go for a check up. They gave me a sweep (which i found hurt) Doctor said to me, I need to book you in for the c/section. He left us (me and partner) in a room, about 30 mins later a nurse came in and said why am I still here? I said I am waiting for the doctor to come back to give me a date for the section. She went and came back. Doctor has gone home, He booked you in for tomorrow morning at 8.30am at boston....great..short notice! The morning came. Half asleep in the car on the way to Boston, on those narrow country roads..nice! Got to the hospital about 8.05am Had to sign consent forms, take some pills. Down I went. I was having an Epidural....never had one before..(never again either) I found that was soooo painfull. Anyway I had to lay down and i couldnt stop vomiting:gag: At 10.03am My boy was born. 17/06/2005. Toby Joseph Taylor He weighed just 7lb 11oz 10 September 2007 was my due date for my little girl. This time the pregnacy wasnt as bad as toby. I was now living in doncaster. Again I wanted to know the sex off my baby, Got told it was a girl...Which I was very happy about. Toby didnt understand why and how baby got in my tummy! I have to say though, doctors didnt want to do a c/section on me at first because they thought I was fit enough to give birth. Eventually in the August they decided to give me the section, beacuse there was a risk that I could have damage because of c/section with toby. The day arrived, I was up at 6am I had to be at hospital at 7.30am. Again had to sign consent forms ans take pills. I was having a spinal. Which I have to agree was not as near as painfull as the Epidural I had with toby. They was giving me drugs after drugs as my blood pressure was very high after they gave me the spinal. Throughout the operation I couldnt concentrate as I was always vomiting. As soon as the baby came out off me they showed her to me. This time she took at least 30-40 seconds to give the cry as they do when they come out. so on 10/09/2007 Keira Louise Taylor was born at 10.26am Weighed 7lb 7oz Now here they are, grown up. The thing is they grow up so quick these days time flys by.... I would have another baby, even though at the back of my mind i got told not to all those yrs ago. Before I think about having another one, I want toby and keira to be at school full time, As they are a bit of a handfull at the moment. Anyway, so sorry why this thread is so long. I just thought I'd share My baby storys with you....
  24. congrats em. I had my boy in 2005 and i had my girl september 2007. They grow up really fast, it only seems like last week when they was born. Hope you have a 'busy' happy life together:love:
