  1. I went to the theatre ---Lyceum to see a play. Can't remember what was on, but remember what I wore. Strange that in't it. Pink off the shoulder dress, took my hair up and wore long dangley earings, month of August so it was warm Think it was the sort of show where everyone was found in the wrong bedroom. hazel
  2. Oh Jongo, I think you are not kind to yourself, I'm sure you will fiind that you a man in his prime who can turn out a rhyme and who has left his rear behind. hazel
  3. I can visulise Jongo in Black plastic wth just a touch of glue and elastic He would beat all competition he would be on a mission to trip the light fantastic We could add ribbon and bows to all the bits that shows whether he's a girl or a boy I think it's a ploy to keep him on his toes. hazel
  4. Dear Thursday, I write this letter to say thank you for the way you soothed my mind you're very kind and thus have made my day hazel
  5. I think I've killed this thread I'm sorry if it was something I said You were having such fun What have I done have I stopped it stone dead hazel
  6. I remember Johnny Ray staring at the City Hall when he was mobbed by fans as he tried to leave. I talked to a girl at the dance who was very proud of the fact that she had his left shoe ! hazel
  7. Hi Poppins yes I went to Australia about 2 year ago and we got on so well I stayed with her for a few days and I hope she enjoyed it as much as I did -- I'm not sure wether her dog was keen tho as she was not used to competing for Vera's attention. Lovely weather, lovely home and I was made very welcome. hazel
  8. Thanks Medusa She is able to read the forum but not able to use it, so I think she will see your post. I'll give her a ring as well at an Ozzie time. hazel

Vera Hopkinson, forum member for many years has aquired a new laptop and in doing so has lost her contact list-- also her SF password so has difficulty logging on So if the forum members who know her would like to get in touch I have her new email address. She mentioned a Stan Critchly who was in her class at Pipworth Rd School about 70 yrs ago when she lived on the Manor Estate and was known then as Vera Pope hazel
  11. My Dad was a furnaceman and worked on Claywheels Lane in the 1940s hazel
  12. Fareast I am impressed You certainly have a new Zest your skills with the rhymes of the places, the times are you putting us all to the test Cressida is not from round here so she thinks you are bendng her ear I'm holding my breath It's a fate worse than death I' saving her from never fear That's odd I didn't know you were gay Is it an old state of play Are you deceiving us all Have you a lover called Paul and is it in China --au fait feel I must swoon with delight Nanrobbo is awfuly polite And Thursday to a compliment true and Rob about limericks was right. We had such a swell limerick team Fareast, Peterdo and Steve, it seems I'd rhyme in my head on going to bed and wake up still rhyming in dreams Ms'Behaving was very good Redrobbo to and it would be such an honour I'm sure that I'd wanna continue the thread if I could. Now Redrobbo don't you see red at what Nanrobbo has said my rhyming is sated (Are you two related ?) Fareast is the name on the thread #16 hazel Registered User There was a time when I wore the crown For being the oldest in town Poppins made me see that she was younger than me so the crown was mine by renown I'm not sure she will want me to but I'm only tryng to pursue If I keep her pure I know that I'm sure to weedle my way in with you. hazel
  13. Here's some of it I'm not so good at the technical bits You remember the thread long ago when we went on the thread just to show that we could make up a rhyme we rhymed all the time so we just went with the flow Well I asked -was it still there -of the mods I thought if it was, it was sods law they would find the piece of my mind when I said they thought they were Gods. Back came the reply that I dread They had deleted the thread so those words that I sought and were safe so I thought were never going to be reread I remember the old limerick thread and all the things that were said all were deleted we didn't get treated To a chance to hear them reread. There were some good limericks there but not as good as our fair headed lady some say she's quite shady But I think it's the derrière derrière is French for the butt and I'm not even going to put my mind into gear for the first time this year I'm going to hide and keep my mouth shut. Cressida Is Fareast still away? Seems a long time since he came to play on the limerick thread has he not read that the axe may fall any day; I'm waiting in fear and trembling that the mod will start resembling the black dog of gloom that enters the room and everyone starts dessemblimg To dessemble is to lie My brother was trained as a Spy when in special forces he was sent on some courses that made him a dissembling guy got this on now must find the piece with the names hazel
  14. I think I'm coming unstuck I'm not sure I'll finish the book cos Old Father Tyme Is waiting on-line and I'm running on nothing but luck. I've found some lims on the computer from about 2 years ago-- would it suit ya to have look at last of forummers from the past who's posts live on in the future hazel
  15. I’m thinking of rhyming in rhyme That’s if I can find the time Ideas run through my head but my head is brain dead so I will have to do it in mime Now I’m not sure that miming is rhyming So the rhymes I do I’m timing I’ll run through the verse Can’t make it much worse Cos the verse is already declining I fear I am losing my touch With rhyming the need is such I’ll keep changing the rhyme so to keep it in time For the rhyme has time in its clutch.. hazel
  16. My Mom used to take a 2lb bag of sugar to a place on Attercliffe Common and it would be swopped for a bag of spice. I think the factory was called Dixons and they were desparate for sugar during the war. The bag was of mixed boiled sweets, broken fishes, marrymequick etc. hazel
  17. RIP HappyHippy So many posts for a remarkable young man. May he rest in peace This makes me wonder if we give enough credit to such people when they are here, just accepting them at the time and realising when too late that we walked in the presence of a unique human being hazel
  18. I don't think I ever read the questionable thread it seemed to be too long for me to keep inside my head hazel
  19. Oh and I thought that this was really you and I may have hurt your feelings by doubting it. so I feel better now. I always look at life with rose coloured specs-- my mother used to say I should have been blonde hazel
  20. I know the Australian sun's might and sitting in the sun is not right with the soft skin of the English easily distinguished by it's shade of rose -pink and white. hazel You look great nanrobbo
  21. I've noticed how beautiful you've become in the time I've been absent from the forum, it must be the truth have you found the fountain of youth? or is it the Ausralian sun hazel
  22. I've been feeling quite fragile so I've been absent for a while but I have become quite adept at this rhyming and kept my rhymes in my usual style. hazel hi nanrobbo
