  1. I was wondering if anyone knows how many light bulbs are actually used in the town hall, the one at the side of the peace gardens, as it looks like a lot when I go past and if they turned some of them off that'd save some money. I was wondering if anyone else has any similar tips to save the council money.
  2. I thought that this weeek ITV did everything it could to get rid of Wagner, and make him look bad. They didn't show him buying the charity single, made him sing I am a creep, x factor staff refused to let him do interviews for Lorraine and This morning
  3. i just want a fair description of what constitutes a low floor bus. I went to Doncaster yesterday and all their first busses seemed to have wheelchair access. I would always fold my buggy up for anyone in a wheelchair as this is just corteous. Its just when the 14 says its low floor, and has a ramp for access, then the driver says 'no!' It's quite annoying. We're the fourth biggest city, and as such should have decent busses, god knows First charge us enough for the privelige.
  4. Stewpot there is two of us to get the pram on the bus, and if you read the first bit of this then you would see that we have to very often fold our pram up (Oh and FYI we do occasionly have shopping). And plain talker we live in Sheffield and not Scotland, while i do agree with you on the shopping trolleys. The main gripe isn't about folding the pram up. It's the fact that First advertise that 90% of their busses are low floor giving the impression that nearly all their busses will be able to accomadate wheelchairs and buggys. I feel it is wrong of First to mislead it customers, it also does this on the 14, and 25a timetable by showing an image of a wheelchair on the front cover. If this isn't false adevrtising then I don't know what is. I will say that some drivers will let us on these old fashioned busses without having to fold our buggy up as it fits in the space adequately. There is a ramp, that can be lowered in my opinion to let buggies on. However some drivers will never let you on, I have this said to me "It's a low floor, non buggy wheelchair friendly bus!". I hope I'm getting my point accross clearer. Stagecoach have very modern busses, and when i go to other places like Derby, and York there busses are excellent.
  5. I agree that there is a wide choice of busses in Sheffield, but feel that this choice is somewhat limited for people in wheelchairs and buggy users. We can fold our buggy up, but in the day and age we are in, is it right to still use busses that are over 15 years old? Londongirl has the same problem with the 25a, as I have with most busses. The bus itself is classed as a low floor, but the seats don't fold up, so some drivers will let you on and others won't. If you are in a wheelchair, it must be even worse, as if you texted the bus stop number, the 14 always appear as a low floor, when a wheelchair could never fit in the space. Also the timetable has a picture of a wheelchair on the front. I just have a problem with the description of low floor, as it implies wheelchair users can use it when quite often they can't.
  6. First in sheffield are very clever saying that over 90% of it busses are low floor in Sheffield. My girlfriend and I have a baby, and so we know this not to be true. To get home, we can use the 14, 57, 58, 17, X57, 77m from town. The only one of them that is a dedictated low floor service is the 17 which only runs once an hour. When I text the bus stop number though, it will usually show the 14 as low floor, as it has a ramp. This should mean that you could take your buggy on, no we are very often told to fold the buggy up. I feel more sorry for people in wheelchairs, who have waited for the bus presuming it would be low floor, and accesible for wheelchairs, and buggies. I have decided to give my custom to stagecoach and come home on the tram even though the bus would be better. I just wonder if anyone else had trouble with these kind of busses.
  7. I personally feel one bus company should only run one service. I just wish they'd put better busses on for people to use. On a sunday TM travel reduces the 14 to one an hour which is riddicolous, as in the week they are every 15 minutes when they turn up. The busses First use on this service are not fit for purpose. I wish some one in a wheelchair would sue them for the lack of disabled access. They might get there act together then. I now have to get the tram as I don't want to have to fold my buggy up for no apparent reason than a 1st's jobsworth opinion.
  8. I am on about first bus as a wheelchair wouldn't fit in the space. In the evening TM travel use busses that are buggy and wheelchair friendly, and yes they are empty, thats why I get annoyed when I get on a first bus and told to fold my buggy up, when it obviously fits. First could learn something from TM travel.
  9. There is no wheelchair space on the majority of the 14 busses, that was what I was writing about. There is space for buggies. As a rule most busses will allow two buggies on, except if there is a wheelchair needing the space.
  10. The 14 bus service has to be one of the worst services in Sheffield. The timetable says that the bus has disabled access. My girlfriend and I have a young baby, and around 80% of drivers let us on. The busses they put on the route are archaic, but are low floor, and can easily accomadate a buggy, they couldn't handle a wheelchair. First advertise these busses as low floor, and when we get told to fold our buggy up, we feel it is riddicolous. I can only imagine how someone in a wheelchair would feel after waiting 15 minutes for the bus would feel, being told they can't get on. People on these routes may have babies in buggies, may be in a wheelchair and first should realise this. Every time now I am refused entry with my buggy and told to fold it up I will keep complaining till something gets done. Any complaints against First should be done through SYPTE as first will just ignore them if you do it through First. I'd like to see all busses accessible for all, wouldn't that be a FIRST.
  11. well I found a good department inside the council who can make private landlords do their repairs they come round and do an investigation of the property and decide what need doing. there name is private sector housing and their num is 0114 2735881. The person who came was very helpful and has pushed through our repairs
  12. Hi I used the cafe in the precint with my girlfriend the other day. I was looking at the prices for an extra egg or sausage and was slightly shocked to see that it would cost £1.40. Also my girlfrined bought a chip butty for £1.90, then had to pay 10p for the ketchup. I can understand that they have to charge but would have thought the 1st ketchup would be complimentray. I will say in defence though they do a good breakfast for £4.20 that comes with a complimntray drink. What would be the most you'd be willing to pay for an extra egg or sausage with your breakfast? Me personally it'd be around 60p
  13. Hi ive found a website that offfers incredible value for money, but i would like to know if anyone has had any dealings with them, as I can not find much info on them. Well let us know if you have, cheers
  14. I always find it stange if im in the country having a walk everyone says "hello" but the same people would blank you in town. I think it would be a better place if we got some sense of politness back and got rid of the fear. Im sure albert if you said hi most people would say it back even if with a fully look.
  15. im trailer trash too never mind. ivr been called worse
  16. When and if watch the antique programs on tv all the presenters say oction, as opposedto auction which as far as know in sheffield in anyway is the proper pronunciation. Just wondering how you say it. And any other words that presenters deliberately change to sound posher than they are
  17. TAPLIN ROAD WINS HANDS DOWN IMAO. WENT TODAY AND AS I WRITE AFTER EATING OVER TWO HOURS AGO FULLY STUFFED, AND THE TASTE WAS PRETTY GOOD TOO. the only other one i used to enjoy was the woodseats fish bar at woodseats. Well taplin road for big fish worral road for little fish.
  18. the goverment also forgets to tell people that they are entitiled to certain benefits aswell. I think more money goes unclaimed than gets defrauded but no one mentions that too often do they?
  19. my personal view of the housing crisis, is one of correction as house prices have rose at a riddcolous rate for the last 15 years, and all that is happening is that the housingmarket is slowly correcting itself to the real price. I feel people should only be allowed to own a maximum of two houses. Greedy property developers have made it impossible for first time buyers to get on the housig ladder
  20. Maybe its a good thing he's not Englsih as he can have a chance of winning wimbeldon. By the way just out of intrest who was the last englsh man to win wimbledon and when? I think it may have been fred perry or rod laver
  21. Worral road hillsborouh shocked me last night as I was about order a fish for £3. It was only the size of a fishcake, I refused to pay. I did have afishcake though and that was nice, I was just shocked at the smallness of the fish as I have had mini fish that are bigger
  22. Yes unfortanetly funding is for over18's only. There's an open group in Firth Park school for children and their parents. Try getting in touch with them for more info
  23. There's a drama taster session this Wednesday at 2pm at Christ church on Nottingham road at the welcome centre. If you get the 47 or 48 going to shiregreen from town, bus the last stop on Nottingham road drops you outside. Free admission and refreshments will be provided. We are a relaxed group and it will be a fun afternoon. Well if you can make it please come and give it a go:) TTFN
  24. Cider is a drink that is known for making people act aggressive, and doing silly things. BB encorages them to get drunk for viewing figures, but I half agree with your point that no-one made them drink it. I'm just saying that I don't believe cider should be offered on the shopping list as people know what kind of drink it is. The producers probably sell this drink cheaper than the others as well. lager and beer or wine would suffice
  25. After the big fight in the big brother house where mohammaed was spat upon does anyone feel that BB itself created a bad situationn by letting the housemates drink CIDER for four hours. Cider has long been known by most people as a drink that can send people loopy. I think C4 should apoligise to us for making the housemates get drunk so they will argue and then kick people out! I'm gld though that Sylvia and Dennis are gone, I don't want any of that group winning. I'd be happy for luke or Bex, Darnell to win, the others are not worthy of anything. Mario and Lisa are just boring.
