  1. My solution is to have the small interchanges like the one at hillsborugh doing more than stocking timetables, and being able to buy passes there or maybe main post offices selling passes. I've been to leeds today and they have a system like that in place so it would be easier for everyone, and the interchages could have more info on different travel schemes. The mini interchange at Hillsborugh sereves little or no point, and wouldn't it be better if it did. Also if the post offices stocked these passes or similar things like the day rover scratch cards it would also help keep people going in them which in turn keeps people in work. My solution fairly simple done in other boroughs ie derbyshire and west yorkshire, so why not south yorkshire. If anyone has any better suggestions than trying to destroy the unemployed. I'm sure you can find better things to do with your energy. The main point as said was the dramatic increase in the price. I wasn't doing on it my behalf, but people on here have reminded me of Jeremy Kyle show when he says "Your unemployed and I pay taxes for you" and then by the same token if there weren't any unemployed people he'd be unempyed as no-one would watch his show.
  2. thank you wolfstain, appreciate the help thanx. we'll beat the forum bullys!
  3. Sometimes i find this forum silly. I was making a point about the huge increase on travel costs, and all this thread as turned into is an attack on the unemployed and people on low incomes. The main point was about the 28% rise in bus fares. The pass itself is for people who are on inocme support some of whom who may be unemployed or maybe on sick. Why does everything have to turn into attacking people. Lets set it out in langauge you all may understand. At the moment the first weekly bus pass is around £15. With your logic I really hope they put this up 28% and then you may appreciate what I was on about, just carry on believeing all the world's injustices are the fault of the unemployed. So prepare for the next weekly pass rising to £21.50 a rise of 28% that you all agree with. Good luck when you try to complain on here about something sensible like this as this thread as really made me feel demoralised, as not one person as said anything sensible, well thats all from me, so respond with any crfiticism you want seeing as you can't manage anything sensible to say.
  4. I think the idea of the pass is to priovide travel to interviews, and help get to get people into work, not everyone will use them for that obviously but most will and i don't think many people want to be truly unemployed. fyi im not unemployed. im just concerned that the transport exectivue is trying to recoup costs from the free bus fares for disabled and pensioners by passing it on to the unemployed and increases in their weekly tickets.
  5. Well its actually been 13.50 since only March, but if somebodys on a low income, around £40-50 a week, they can only get the pass on their pay day. It is quite hard to have any money spare three days before. I just think there should be an easier way for people to get a pass ie from their post office or something similar.
  6. This is basically a complaint. The unemployed pass for people on low income or who are unemployed rose from £10.50 to £13.50. Even in these times of higher petrol costs this is a signifficant rise of around 28%. On a slightly related matter, the little interchanges like the one at hillsbrough should be allowed to sell these passes, or the bus driver. A pass lasts for only seven days so runs out the day before the next giro comes so if you live miles from town you have to pay the bus fare, so the actual price can end up at around £16.00 p/w. If you have any opinions or any sensible suggestions how to make this system fairer add to this thread.
  7. I saw a program on tv and a taxi driver has to pick any fare up unless its over 15miles and then its upto their discretion. This was true for London and I should imagine its the same rules for hackney carriages. However the taxi driver would probably argue that you may have been too drunk. Next time just take the drivers number and report him to the company.
  8. Unfortuantely no, but we'll be discussing on the day what would be the best time for everyone involved, so we can accomadte as many people as possible!
