What do others think? it could be a massive wake up call for England, that something is going badly wrong with the coaching system, in the sense that talent is not coming through. When England won the world cup in 1966, kids back then (the 1966 team that were kids in the late 1940s/early 1950s) played football on the local playing fields, developed a love for the game and while they were playing were getting fitter. Injurys back then would have been seen as part of the fun. Now, sports coaches have to be qualified to the eyeballs, yet despite all these qualifications, England (as it seems now) will not be competeing in Euro 2008. Years ago, qualification for the world cup/euros was a matter of course, now it seems a major achievement if England qualify. Do you think that the coaching system is too rigid? do you think the problem is the fact there are no playing fields for kids anymore? or do you think the problem lies with the compensation culture, whereby if someone trips up the tripee needs counselling? What is the problem? do you think if England fail to qualify it could be a good thing?

If you see a mole, is it advisable to go and see the doctor? It could be a sign you spending too much time on sunbeds

If you were female early 20s, the bus driver would have been happy to wait.

Smiley speed sign on the Parkway
mr_busdriver replied to stanleeder's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Its really stupid, and its not even acurate. If claimed I was doing 45 mph, and pulled a silly face at me. Very annoying as I was doing at least 55mph. Does it do different things the faster you go? ie, if you travel at 80mph, it sticks 2 fingers up at you? -
The problem is this We have now broken through the £1 per litre, and it has been coming for ages, its been around the mid 90's mark for a long time. Now we are through that barrier, I fear the floodgates may well open, and the price will jump drastically. In summer, the price rises get blamed on demand (ie people driving for their hols to the coast) and I'm sure it won't be long before prices go up because of christmas (ie people going shopping and causing traffic jams) People (environmentalists) say, excellent, expensive fuel, people now will re-evaluate if they need to use their cars. But the problem is, as the fuel price goes up, so do the bus fares

Does your newspaper tell alot about you as a person? For example, a gardian reader is likely to bore you to death about the environment, a daily mail reader will give you a bit of the old "Yes enoch was right..." and a Sunday Sport reader may tell you about London buses on the moon. Which paper do you read?

The problem is this. There could be 2 petrol stations less that 100 meters apart, one will sell petrol and 98p per litre, and the other sell petrol at 105p per litre. People will still go to the more expensive petrol station.

Does any of you guys want " Jack and the Beanstalk" ? We (me and the 3yr old) have finished reading this book, and are looking at getting "the 3 little pigs" Do you exchange books? -
Only 3 times that amount? thats putting it lightly Lets say, for argument that the average road will cost 20p per mile (and thats being very lenient) and an someone drives 8000 miles per annun (which isn't many miles) 8000 devide by 20p = £1600 per annun Mr Van driver at 73,000 miles per annum will pay £14,600 (provide the cost of road pricing is an average of 20p per mile) Even if the cost was a mere 1p per mile he'd pay £730.
-
There talking about travelling on a Motorway costing up to £1 plus per mile, down to 2p a mile if you travel on a country road at 3am in the morning. Now unless Mr Van Driver is only planning to drive 600 miles per annun, theres no way he will be paying only £600 per year.... Unless of course, the gullible public will fall for road pricing.... They won't, will they?
-
WHat gets me is the people who go to the petrol stations where petrol is 5p a litre more expensive than supermarkets petrol. Can't these people read? or do they not realise that 1.05 is the price? Do they think the sign with the number on (ie 1.04) is todays temperature?

According to the news there is a new desease, that is claiming our young.... its called Alcolhol Desease. Does anyone have any information about alcohol desease? how do you get it, and how can you avoid it? Can it be passed around easily, ie, like getting flu or measles? And what cures are available?
-
OK we had 4 numptys, and they were each asked to drive around for a while. Near the end of the programme they were given their anual road pricing bills. Mr van driver who drives 73,000 miles per year, would only pay £600 per annum. Mrs drop the kids off at school, followed by a drive to work.... only pays £113 per annum. Where do they get these figures from? £600 per annum for a van driver, do the experts think we are thick?

Why am I bad? after all people waiting at the next bus stop waited. -
I know I got a great idea !!!! Lets double the price of fuel, no in fact better idea, make it £20 per litre. That will stop people driving thier cars (they won't be able to afford to). Everyone will then use the bus, because as we all know when the fuel goes up, the bus fare will ..... er.... er... hang on..... er.... what happens to the bus fare when the fuel price goes up? Answers on a post card please (environmentalists need only reply)

Bus drivers and cigarette breaks.

Bus Drivers has cig breaks when they need one. Passengers usually don't go anywhere (ie they generally stay at the bus stop) I had a cig break which lasted 45 minutes earlier, so sorry to all people who were waiting for a 14 at 11am today -
I like to block the yellow gates when driving the buses. Its best in rush hour, the poor bloke at the front has been queing for ages, and some bus blocks his junction. The more desperate the driver is to pull off...... the better it works.
