  1. The Moorby`s from eldest to youngest are, Ann, Keith, John, Brian, Pauline, Karen and Susan, (twins) and Kevin. Alice was my mother-in-law.
  2. I know Val, I got her a job at a factory where I used to work, many years ago, had a lot of laughs , and my hubby will know all the others. His best friend used to be Alan Oxley.
  3. I`ve recently been looking for insurance for my daughter and came across this one , http://www.quinn-direct.co.uk. She`s only a learner driver at the moment, but I was quoted £960
  4. To me, £400 a month would mean I`d be able to leave my present god-awful job, without having to worry about a cash flow situation
  5. Thanks for all your help regarding suggestions, thought I`d come and do an update . Well, I have to say that most places, including all the above, either don`t do 18th birthday parties, or you have to have their own catering and entertainment if you want the room. Or, they`re simply already booked for the date that I wanted. The Philadelphian Club would have been my first choice, but it`s already booked up.I have managed to get sorted though, at the place where I thought would be booked up for sure... the church hall in my own village, would you believe ! Only just did it tonight though, phew !! Got a disco booked too, and the catering`s down to me and my sister, so.. all I need now is a photographer for an 18th birthday portrait ... While I`m at it, I would like to mention the new managers at the British Oak pub in Mosborough, really helpfull, really nice and friendly.. and best thing is... they haven`t got many bookings yet, as they haven`t been there very long, so, if anyone`s looking for a venue in the Mosborough area, give them a ring. Their number is 0114 2486442, ask for Adam or Danielle. Once again, thanks to everyone for all your help, very much appreciated.
  6. I`m planning an 18th birthday party for my daughter in December. Her birthday`s on the 7th (Friday ) but would hope to be able to have the party on the 8th. Does anyone know of any reasonably priced rooms available for hire, with a bar, for say, around 100/125 people, ages ranging from 3 to 63, in the Sheffield, or very closely surrounding areas? I would be doing my own catering, and would like to be able to hire my own disco/karaoke/ entertainment. Also, would any disco/karaoke/entertainers out there, who will be free on that date, contact me with details, prices etc? Thanks in advance for any help that anyone may be able to give me.
  7. Wow, that takes me back a bit. I worked for him when I was about 17,nearly 40 years ago. There was Jack and his son John, a lady named Nancy, and another lady, named Henny I think. Also, a young lad whose name I can`t recall at the moment.I used to make pallette knives, scrapers, boning knives, hacking knives, shoe knives etc.I think it was on Solly Street, I`ll check when my husband comes home. They appear to have a website, which gives their present address as Scotland Street. Not sure if Jack is still around, he`d be in his eighties by now.
  8. Your grandparents weren`t by any chance Olive and Bill were they?
  9. I lived on Broomhall Street as a child, which was also just off West Street. There was a police box at the top of our road, you might remember that? Also, the Rickshaw coffee shop was at the top of our road, occupyiny the corner position. The back entrance to it was on the street behind us,Eldon Street, and the side of The Royal Hospital was directly opposite Eldon Street.
  10. Forgot to add, Padken gives a discount to forum users, so,what are you all waiting for?
  11. I also have a will, it`s a sensible thing to do. I`d reccomend Padken ( on here)
  12. I can. I used Claim2Gain, I`ve just referred a friend of mine to them. Just google Claim2Gain, and contact them
  13. This is interesting. Do you find that most people don`t bother making a will, and automatically assume that everything will go to their next of kin then?
  14. Listen to your fellow forummers King Rat, they`re giving you sound advice, I agree with all they`ve said. I personally think you`re being far too hard on yourself at the moment. You gave up once, you can do it again, but wait until you`re less stressed. And, when you do give up, don`t just do it for your dad, do it for yourself too, ok? Lots of hugs to you
  15. Ok, some messages here. First, to SF,thankyou, simply for being there.
