  1. Thought he was the hairy monster......What about Toothy Blackburn and recently returned on a temp basis Noel Edmonds. Whilest were on the subject can anyone remember the name of the woman who presented family favourites in the 60s.
  2. Britain is the windiest place in Europe and it makes sense to place them here. Where though is another matter. I,m all for them as i to pass the turbines at Thurlstone quite often and they are almost silent. Regarding the plans for wind turbines at hathersage the windiest place in the peaks is where the gliding field is above Abney so its likely that they will put them there. There is very little residential activity there so it would not affect the locals.
  3. And he forgot the ex cycleracer to, our Jimmy was nifty on a bike. hows about that then. Jonathan Ross is my favourite.
  4. Now now Alch, i said What gets your goat, not whom.
  5. I know what you mean Steelblade, now your an adul you should move on in life and if that means without your Mother then so be it. A bad Mother does not deserve your company just for the sake of you being her Son. If you feel friction when she is in your company then you may never bond properly as most Mother and Son do because of the past. You worry me when you say you feel like throttling her, i hope thats just an expression and not a threat. Maybe you should not see her for about 6 months and by then she will realise what she has missed and you both will feel like seeing each other and have time for her. Try it and see if you feel better for it,maybe your mum will not like it but if it improves your relationship then it is well worth it.
  6. Trouble is this site just tells you were to put it when you get it and does not stop it coming in the first place.
  7. I have to aggree that these appartments will loose there appeal in time may it be 5 years or 30 years. Its all a matter of time. lthough some people that have bought these apartments are Sheffield business men who don't actually live in them but offer them to clients to save stopping in a hotel when they come here to visit.
  8. What irritates you in life apart from bills. 1)Middle age men wearing base ball caps. 2)Middle age women dolled up wearing mini skirts. Urrg not a pleasant sight . What gets your goat.
  9. Thats true Alch and if you can afford to shop at these places then why not. We each live to our means wether rich or poor and i cannot see Sheffield becoming a City for the yuppies.Sheffields to big for that and we all still have plenty of places in Sheffield to shop. Why pay designer prices for a shirt when you can get a shirt of simular quality from Meadowhall. Re the appartments i would not pay the asking price for one and personally would'nt live in them rent free because living in the town centre has no appeal. I would spend my money on a green belt property.
  10. So lets all PM martino1 and find out were we all are in this leafy suburb, and you never know we can plan a civil war against the beightonians.
  11. I remember a tune by St. Lunitics let your elbows touch your toes. I'll check it out.
  12. Its become the norm now to hear these so called bombs from September onwards now and to be honest this will only get worse in the years to come. But DB is right to say that something should be done.
  13. I suppose we could all be living in a house with a murky past maybe the chance of someone dying in the house are high especially in an older house and we may never know the history that it holds. Though the point your making is should the estate agent tell he buyer of what has happend in the house. I,m not sure of the law about this, if you have a fault structure wise and you don't tell the buyer then that is an offence, but on the basis of the murder and holding this back then it is not an offence. As someone said in another thread don't try and fix it if it is'nt broken.
  14. Yeah Max know what you mean, though no such luck in my case but i only have contact with one brother out of all my family. In-laws i have'nt bothered with for 24 years, my parents are both deceased, brother was banned from his hen pecking wife. My Sons partner is becomimg a pain though and causing friction amongst the family and this will only get worse in time but we do not see her so thats fine.
  15. Certainly has, Whirlow is where the big fish live these days. Ecclesall is the Wybourn of the Hallam constituates. Whoops sorry for mentioning that E word. Sorry Wybourn, no offence made tying you in with that E area.
  16. I thought Dusty Springfield sang that or is that another song altogether.
  17. As Civil Servants yes we do have a 2 minutes silence at work so do all Government buildings. Can't vouch for industry though. I know the bus drivers stop.
  18. If there in prison for shoplifting and expecting a baby then no they should not be chained to a bed. Serious crime then maybe. Why don't the Tories admit defeat, they did enough damage to this country to last a life time during the 80s and early 90s, we refuse to forget that. They have blown it for the 21st century thats for sure.
  19. I only ever went to the hospital once in April 1975. I was almost leaving school and on the ward i visited its a time i never forgot. There was an old lady and one of her feet had half missing. She had some very heavy boots made to fit her and i think the same foot was a clubb foot. I went to help her as instructed by the teacher and she attacked me. Now this might sound funny being attacked by a disabled woman probably in her 80s or 90s, but it was very distressing and frightened me as she was like a woman possesed. It took male nurses to get her off me. I never went back there after that, and on the radio that afternoon in that ward was Minnie Rippertons Loving you, and when that song comes on the radio even today it reminds me of that hot afternoon back in 1975. Did anyone know this lady.
  20. Any minister from the Thatcher era is a danger to this country. Retire the lot of em and get some young blood in there, someone who understands todays society rather than the tiring self pocket liners like Howard and Clarke.
  21. I got sick of recieving them and in the end did'nt bother to look at them so i just deleted them. Only today i won 32,000k and a new car if i sent off the document in a pre-paid envelope to the Netherlands. The form asked me to confirm my name and address in case it got into the wrong hands, then followed on to a direct debit sheet. Of course this went streight into file 13.
  22. The whole point of poppys is to raise funds for the widows and familys of the fallen. You are hardly contributing to that if you don't buy one every year are you.
