  3. As S1 1DJ said Abbeydale Steam Railway have 2 public running days left Sun. 3rd 17th October. Rides £1-50 all classes Refreshments and Toilets available. Upto 5 trains running at ground level and 2 on raised track. I will be pleased to punch your tickets.
  4. We lived up Thirlwell Road, I went to Anns Road Infant & Junior School, my school leaving report states I started at Carfield Senior School September 1954 and left in December 19 th. 1957. Started evening classes at Carfield from September 1957 3 evenings per Week 7pm-9pm. When I started work at Hardypick age 15 it was 7am start to 4-30pm then Tue Wed Thur evening school then find time to do some homework. Mr Barnard was School Head Master. My school reports give year S1 Mrs Wolfendale S2 Mrs Cowley S3 Mr Cohen S4 D Carter. Dad was not in the Army classed as essential worker, but was in the Home Guard stationed at Warminster Road. Lyn Coupe was the welder who set my next stage of employment, Albert Nash used to do all the Drilling and operate the Planer (Belt Driven) another chap operated a lathe (Belt Driven) can't remember his name, Fred Pitts worked with my Dad
  5. Hi Stuart, The Devil Shop was the fabrication shop Bernard Moody was the Foreman, I can recollect the name of George Sollit (check spelling) worked in the Die shop that over60 years ago. You would probably know my dad Tommy Cartwright.
  6. Hello just come across this thread, My Grandfather and his brother, my father then myself worked at Hardypick in the Devil shop. I started on my 15th birthday in 1958 as an apprentice but moved on after 18 months, my father retired from Hardypick then Lackock Engineering in 1975. Re the thread on the Sheffield flood of 1958 all the tools and euipment in the Devil Shop was covered in sludge when walked in for 7am that Morning.

  8. Scam email for Microsoft Office, received two yesterday and one this morning not Microsoft but from [email protected]. anyone else received similar. I am with Talk Talk and have been receiving scam emails since TalkTalk were scammed a couple of years ago.
  9. Sheffield Transport ran OuterCircular bus No. 2 & 3 via Woodseats Road. What a nice way to spend 2 hrs. going all round the city.
  10. Hello I attended Carfield from Anns Road and was in class 4A left at Christmas 1957 to start work on my 15th Birthday in January 1958 I still have all my old school reports from Anns Road & Carfield BTC43
  11. Hello just enrolled on site after reading for a few years. Re Farm in Dykes Lane it was located approx where the block of new houses are outside Jordanthorpe Medical Centre.
